Port Orford cedar, ponderosa pine, sugar pine and red alder. Unless tannin is recovered from tree bark, this country will soon become dependent upon im ports for nearly 100 per cent of the natural tannin supply, Kurth added. Tannins are used for tanning leather and in oil well drilling. This country imports annual ly about 30,000,000 pounds of carnauba and bees' waxes.
