GOLD HILL 5-9207 DANCING - FAVORS Five Mental Health Films To Be Shown Starting Monday A series of five films on teen agers and their problems has been scheduled for showing in four Jackson county towns, it was announced today by Mrs. Walter Bish, chairman of the Jackson County Mental Health committee. The films, to be shown free of charge, will be presented, at Eagle Point high school, Ashland senior high school, Rogue River high school, and the Medford YMCA. '. First on Monday The first showing is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 3, and the series will be completed Thurs day, Feb. 3. All showings will start at. 8 p.m. The film forum is sponsored by several cooper ating Jackson county groups, working through the mental health committee. Prominent leaders in the field of mental health will lead dis cussions at each showing. The schedule ior each of the five pictures includes: "Age of Turmoil" Eagle Point, Jan. 3; Ashland,- Jan. 4; Rogue River, Jan. 5; Medford, Jan. 6. "The : Meaning of Adoles cence" Eagle Point, Jan. 10; Ashland, Jan. "11; Rogue River, Jan, 12; Medford, Jan. 13. - "Social Sex Attitudes in Ado lescence" ' Eagle Point, Jan. 17; Ashland, Jan. 18; Rogue River, Jan. 19; Medford, Jan. 20. "Physical Aspects of Puberty" Eagle Point, Jan. 31; Ashland, Feb. 1; Rogue River, Feb. '. 2; Medford, Feb. 3. The New Year, with the tra ditional horn - tooting, dancing, shows and watch . parties, will be ushered in New Year's eve in Jackson county in numerous vays. The night spots, dinner houses and ballrooms have gone to extra expense and effort to see that their patrons will enjoy seeing the old year out and the new one in with the customary paper hats, tin horns, confetti or serpentine. Granges throughout the valley, too, have made extensive plans for the gaiety of their guests at dances which will be open to the public. Lodges also have planned public events. The Craterian theater will be the only theater in Medford to have a midnight show. A "sneak preview" of "So This Is Paris" is scheduled, according to the management. Irr addition to the public dances, dinners and parties, there also will be many private parties at clubs, churches, lod ges, and homes. Dining places have planned special dinners on New Year's day. Grange 4-H Club Applegate Knit-Wils The Applegate Knit-Wits met at the home of Georgia Bowles, December 28. We were glad to welcome Jean Rowden .to our club. ; , We have chosen Applegate Knit-Wits as our club name. A suggestion was made to have a booth at the Applegate minstrel show put on by the Applegate. 4-H clubs. Refreshments were served and songs were sung. Eagle Point Grange The December 21 meeting of Eagle Point Grange was con ducted by the newly elected offi cers .with Mrs. Lester Wertz, master, presiding. Visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Leland Charley of Lake Creek Grange and Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert Bush of Gold Hill Grange. Mr. and Mrs. Harry DeVore were approved by the member ship committee and elected to membership. Agriculture chairman, Bob Bitterling, reported concerning tne treatment for preserving fence posts. Milroy Charley reported that cattle are being sold in large numbers at this time and ad vised holding as long as possible for a better price later. Egg prices are holding steady but are threatened by sale of storage eggs through certain channels at considerably reduced prices, he said. It is believed that next year will be a good year to increase the chicken business as many flocks are being sold because of high feed costs. Mrs. Otis Hill gave an inter esting account of a phase of Civil Defense, the Ground Ob server posts, one of which she and ' Mr." Hill " operate at their home in the Climax vicinity. Pennants will . be j awarded again this year by State Grange to all subordinate Granges with dues paid by March first, a let ter from the State Grange sec retary announced. - H.E.C. chairman, Carol Cly- mer, noted a number of Polly- anna- gifts at her station includ ing Robert Hill, Mrs. MitteL staedt, Ruby Stowell, Billie Ves tal and Crete Carnall. ' Mrs. ', Tom ' Vestal and Vern Mathews were installed by Paul Force to the offices of Flora and Gatekeeper, respectively. Charles Humphry is reported ill in a Medford hospital. Ger trude Stanley is ill with a severe cold. It was also reported that Lottie Van Scoy who suffered a fall at her home was not seriously injured. Past officers expressing thanks for cooperation of mem bers during the year were Bob Bitterling and Mrs., John Huff man. The meeting, to start at 8 p.m., will be in the circuit court room of the courthouse. Members are representatives of organizations which participate in the juvenile advisory program. James V..McGoodwin, chair man of "the committee's execu tive group, said in the meeting announcement, "Indications are that wide-spread education will be needed if we are to achieve the facility for which the people voted."
