THE CITY OF MEDFORD DOTH
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. WHEREAS, the City
Council did heretofore by Ordinance
declare its intention to construct con
crete - curbs and gutters, driveways
and asphaltic concrete pavement on
Hamilton Street from West 13th
Street to Dakota Avenue in the City
of Medford. Oregon; and to assess the
cost thereof upon each lot or part
thereof adjacent to and benefited by
such improvement its proportionate
share of the cost of said improvement,
and - did fix the time and place for
hearing protests against the construc
tion of said improvement, and the
assessment of the cost thereof, as
aforesaid. And -
WHEREAS said Ordinance was duly
posted and published as reauired by
the Charter of the City. And
WHEREAS a meeting of the Council
was held at the time and place fixed
in said Ordinance for the purpose of
considering any such protests, but no
protests were at such time, or at any
time, made to. or received by the
Council to the construction of said im
provement, or the assessing of the
cost thereof, as aforesaid, and said
Council has considered the matter and

Medford, according to city police.
, Virginia Ilo Dickerson, 33, of
273 Mace rd., received minor
injuries at about 8:25 p.m.
Wednesday when the car -in
which she was riding was in
volved in an accident.
She was a passenger in a car
driven by, Eugene Barrie Dick
erson, 43, of 273 Mace rd., which
collided with a vehicle operated
by Patricia Adele McDuffie, 32,
of 123 Black Oak dr. There
were no .citations.
Driver Cited
Alva Ernest Watts, 64, of
route 1, box 419M, Medford,
was cited for failure to yield
the right of way following a col
lision on South Riverside ave.
between Seventh and Eighth sts.
Watts was the driver of a car
which collided with a car driven
by Robert Easco Whitton, 23,
Orick, Calif. No injuries were

The third accident involved
a parked . car owned by" Paul
Hughes Riggs, 249 South River
side ave. Riggs car, parked in
front of his house, was struck
by another vehicle which failed

that horse with the extra gun.

State Civil Defense
Activities Reviewed
Salem (U.R) Civil defense
in Oregon entered the , H-bomb
planning phase in 1954 and saw
the. shelter program set aside
in favor of pre-attack dispersal
and evacution of city- popula
tions. '
State Civil Defense Director
Arthur M. Sheets said one of
the principal activities , during
the year was testing 54 traffic
control points surrounding the
Portland critical target area.
"The traffic control points
where tested three times and
they are . operational," Sheets
said.
Sheets said the priority pro
ject for 1955 is completing plans
for dispersing people from the
target areas, as well as planning
for receiving and caring for the
thousands of evacuees.

fense warning system has been

State Earl T. Newbry said today.
He commended plans of Port
land taxicabs and liquor dispen
sers to co-operate in curbing
drinking drivers by encouraging
them to go home by taxi or bus.
