Fire Alarms A bed and bed
ding at the Joy O. Rock resi
dence, 123 Chestnut st., were
burned and smoke damage , was
caused yesterday evening, after
the bedding was ignited when
the bed was pushed too close
to a wall heater, firemen report
ed. Pumpers from the main and
west side stations were called
at about 6:50 p.m. Earlier, a
pumper was sent to the ,400
block of East Main st. to investi
gate the cause of smoke. No fire
was found, and firemen said the
smoke apparently was caused by
a recently-stoked furnace.

B. Mclntyre, 63, of Shady. Cove,
who died in Portland Thursday,
will be held at Perl funeral
home Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.,
with the Rev. D. E. Millard of
ficiating. Interment will be in
Jacksonville cemetery.
The deceased, who was born
at Keno, Ore., on June 3, 1891;
was a veteran of World War I,
serving as a mechanic in Battery
E, 69th Artillery, C.A.C., U.S.
Army.
Survivors include his mother,
Lola Mclntyre; a sister, Mrs.
J.' S. Sawyer, and two brothers,
Joe and Ernest, all of Jackson
