V SI3CSE5N MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Monday, December 20. 1954 Ike, Mamie Plan Georgia Holiday Washington (U.R) President Eisenhower will leave Thurs day for a Christmas holiday in Augusta, Ga., the White House announced today. Mrs. Eisenhower and her mother, Mrs. John S. Doud of President. The President is ex pected to remain in Georgia through Jan. 2. t 'The White House did not know whether the President's son, Maj. and Mrs. John Eisenhower and their three children, would be able to join the .family group at Augusta. 1 Maj. Eisenhower is now at tending the staff school at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan. While in Augusta, Mr. . Eisen hower will put in some work on three important communications to Congress, his State of the Union Message, the new budget, and his economic report. About half the nation's women workers are married. New York (U.R) Television comedian Jackie Gleason said today he has "as good as signed" a three-year contract with the Columbia Broadcasting System and the Buick Division of Gen eral Motors which would pay him $11,000,000. The deal, described as "the biggest financial deal in. TV his tory" actually involves a total cost to his new sponsor of 17 million dollars, Gleason said. Buick now sponsors rival comic Milton Berle on the National Broadcasting Company. "My company Gleason Enter prises will get 11 millions," Gleason said. "But the total deal is for 17 millions. The rest goes to CBS for the time." The contract calls for 39 filmed half hour shows of the "Honeymooner," a comedy sketch also featuring Audrey Meadows and Art Carney, which began as a small part of the Gleason show. Thirteen of these shows will be repeated, during the summers.
