    Lady Lions Plan
Santa Claus Visit
In Eagle Point
Eagle Point Plans for a Com
munity Christmas tree and visit
from Sana Claus were made at
the last meeting of Eagle Point
Lady Lions. The meeting was
held at the home of Mrs. Jim
Clarke.
The community tree is planned
for Monday, December 20, at 7
p.m. Santa Claus will distribute
candy to the children. A pro
, gram, to be given in the Eagle
Point .Teenage clubhouse, ,will
follow. ; '
Local entertainers will be on
the program, and group meet
ing of Christmas carols is
planned. The public is invited to
attend.
The Lady Lions meeting was
preceded by a potluck dinner.
Fourteen members and two
guests, Mrs. C. R. Albert and
Mrs. Don Pulley, Eagle Point,
attended.

Fifty-six young people took part,

tension unit held the December
meeting at the home of Mrs. Ben
Gardener. The luncheon served
was planned from the lesson, on
appetizing meals from canned,
frozen and stored foods, and
stressed the importance of the
"basic seven" in planning meals.
Mrs. Kenneth Dufour and Mrs.
Gardener were the project lead
ers.' Miss Marianne Moore, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Orie Moore,
1707 Ridgeway, Medford, has
been recommended . by Reese
Creek Extension unit, to become
a member of Azalea house at
Oregon State college. Miss Moore
is a freshman at the college in
honie economics. .
New members joining the unit
were Mrs. L. L. Dodenhoff and
Mrs. D. L. Crandell. .
Next meeting will be Jan. 4
at 10:30 a.m. at the home of
Mrs. Clifford Moore. The project,
"Good Weight for Good Health"
will be led by Miss D.TSula Win-termote.

Jacksonville Members of the
20-80 club of Jacksonville Pres
byterian church, , who each year
trim the church Christmas tree,
will gather at the church Sat
urday evening, December 18, for
the traditional event. They also
will sack treats for the children
of the Sunday school. .
The evening will open with a
potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m.,, and
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nieder
meyer recently elected as joint
presidents of the club, will pre
side. Mr. and Mrs. George
Wendt are the new . secretary
treasurer .team. .
A gift exchange will be held.

a program of Christmas music
for the last meeting of College
Women's club of the Rogue Riv
er valley, held at First Metho
dist church. She was assisted by
Herbert S. Daniels and the Car
oleer singers.
Refreshments were served by
Mrs. Ben Schmidt, Mrs. G. R.
Carter, Mrs. Una B. Inch, Mrs.
A. G. Pierce and Miss Jane Sne
dicor. Mrs. Pierce was responsible
for unusual table decorations,
which were in pink.
The next meeting of the club
will be January 8 in Ashland.

Nativity Scene Opens
At Funeral Home Here
A scene of the nativity, dis
played on the Newtown st. side
of the Conger-Morris funeral
home here, was set up yesterday.
It has been erected each year
at the Christmas season since
1946, with a few figures and
background pieces added each
year. . Four new panels have
been added to the background
this year. Colored floodlights
illuminate the scene at night.
The oil paintings were done by
Hal E. Bishop, Gold Hill artist.
THIRD BLOOD DRIVE
Rogue River The successful
collection of blood conducted
here this week, when 103 pints
were donated, was the third held
in this community, it was point
ed out today; A story in Thurs
day's Mail Tribune said it was
the first, when' it should have

with 19 members attending. -
Plans were made to donate a
tree to the Camp White park,
and for special request records
over radio stations for Mrs. Mary
Moore, who has been ill., Mrs.
Mary Foster, Medford, won a
word contest. - ; .
Luncheon celebrated the
birthdays of Mrs. Fred Law
rence, Mrs. Sally Musty, Mrs;
Eva Smith and Mrs. Mae Robin
son. Christmas gifts were ex
changed. .
The next meeting of the group
will be in Legion hall January
18. A' potluck luncheon at 12
o'clock will be followed by in
stallation of new officers.

East to spend his fourth Christ
mas with American troops in
Korea.
Cardinal Spellman took off on
a Northwest Airlines plane
which is due to arrive at Seattle
at 7:15 p.m. PST and at Anchor
age, Alaska, at 1:05 a.m. tomor
row.' He will remain there, visit
ing troops, until Sunday after
noon when he will take off again
for Tokyo: ' 7
The prelate said he was tak
ing with him 100,000 cigarettes,
30,000 holy pictures, 25,000 rosa
ries, medals and other holy arti
cles and a quantity of toys for
Korean children.

The first cub scout pack to be

the Crater Lake Area Council
was registered Dec. 2.
An installation and bobcat
ceremony was held in the recrea
tion room of the Church Dee. 15.
