FOUR MEDFORD (OREGON) Church Honors New Minister, Choir Director Christmas music furnished the entertainment Wednesday eve ning for a reception held at the First Christian church which honored the new minister, the Rev. William C. Piper, and Mrs. Piper, and the new choir direc tor, Herbert S. Daniels, and Mrs. Daniels. Those who participated in the program were Miss Oveta Wal den and Miss Ailene Weber, who played accordion duets; Miss Joyce Hunter, who furnished a piano solo; Misses Katherine, Winifred and Karen Gott, who sang a trio number. Mrs. Wayne Smith was in charge of the pro gram. ; Wayne Wakefield, chairman of the church board, introduced the Rev. and Mrs. Piper; and Mrs. Claude Haggard, music committee chairman, introduced Mr. and Mrs. Daniels and their family. A dinner was served preced ing the program. Mrs. W. I. House was the dinner chairman and tables decorated in the Christmas theme were arranged by Mrs. Floyd Putman. About 140 persons attended the reception. ( 4 Christmas To Be Topic For Butte Falls PTA; Plan Demonstration Butte Falls "What Christmas Can Mean to Your Child," will be the topic of discussion during a Butte Falls Parent-Teacher association meeting Monday, December 13, at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. A demonstration of hand crafts, group activities and other family pursuits of entertainment for Christmas time will be given. Carol singing and other music appropriate for the occasion are planned. I. Southerland at a meeting of the Central Point Garden club held recently "at the home of Mrs. C. W. Anhorn, A potluck luncheon was served by the hostess assisted by Mrs. Steve Benston, Mrs. Pon Patterson and Mrs. W. Patterson. Christmas decorations were used about the rooms and Mrs. Southerland brought the ar rangement for the month, a ma donna with candles and dried flowers. Mrs. Ora Kay won a prize for having the best wrapped gift. Mrs. Homer and Mrs. Souther land also won prizes during the meeting and Mrs. E. W. Jermark was given a corsage of the month which -was in keeping with the season. A plant ex change also was held. The next meeting will be held January 5 at the home of Mrs. E. E. Reames. Womenfs Club Plans Annual Yule Party At Medford Hotel - Scottish Rite Women's club will hold the annual Christmas party at the Medford hotel Mon day, December 13. Luncheon will be served at noon with an exchange of gifts following. Cost of the gifts is not to exceed 50 cents. Canasta and bridge will be played during the afternoon. Any women with Scottish Rite af filiations will be welcome. Res ervations may be made by call ing 2-8094 or 2-4453 no later than Saturday morning. General chairman is Mrs. Fred Graten. Miss Moser is a graduate of Crater High school and attended nurses school in Eugene. She is employed at Sacred Heart hospi tal in Medford. Mr. Richardson is also a grad uate of Crater High school and is a student at Southern Oregon college. A May wedding is planned by the couple. Students to Wed In Holiday Rites At Utah Temple Shady Cove-Trail Mr. and Mrs. Wilde of Trail announce the engagement of their young est daughter, Gail Wilde, to Lor en Weber, son of Mrs. Ernest Weber, Rigby, Ida. Miss Wilde is in her freshman year at Brigham Young univer sity at Provo, Utah and Mr, Weber is a graduate student teacher at the same university, Mr. Weber is majoring in physics and algebra and is working to ward his doctor's degree. Both will; continue their courses after their marriage which is to be an event "of De cember 28 at the Latter Day Saints' temple in Salt Lake, Miss- Wilde and ' her sister, she is attending the university of Utah in Salt Lake, will arrive have for the Christmas holidays December 18, accompanied . by Mr. Weber; The three young peo ple and Miss Wilde's parents will leave for Salt Lake De cember 24. - . - College Added . To AAU W List Graduates of Lewis and Clark college, Portland, are now eligi ble for membership in American Association of University Wom en, according to : Mrs. Herbert Seitz. president of the local branch, who announced that the school has just been added to the list approved by AAUW. Standards for AAUW recognl tion of institutions and degrees for membership 'include good academic standards, an adequate foundation of general education, recognition of women in faculty and administration, adequate provision for women students and maintenance of academic freedom. Through these requirer ments AAUW uses its influence for high standards in education for women. Lewis and Clark college grad uates who are interested in join ing AAUW are asked to call Mrs. Emerson Anderson, mem bership chairman, at 2-2134 for further information. Mrs. Seitz also announced that the daily radio program for chil dren which has been presented over KYJC at 4 p.m. under the sponsorship of AAUW will re sume broadcasting Monday, De cember '13, in response to num erous requests for more of this type Of program, which is de signed fori children of pre-school age through third grade. The morning session will begin at 10:30 a. m. The devotional- chairman, Mrs. F. Wildon colbaugh, will use the Christmas theme for her message. A potluck dinner will be served, at noon. Work projects include prepar ing and sending clothing for American Indian relief in Ari zona and New Mexico. Infant clothing is especially desired, and clothing for all ages is need ed. Old Christmas cards are ap preciated as they are made into Sunday school awards. Cancel led stamps, domestic and foreign, cut out with a generous margine around them, are being collected to send to a missionary in South America who can use them to advantage in her work through resale. The annex has been remod eled, a new sewing machine, and a gas range for the kitchen have been purchased, and a sewing room fitted out down stairs. Gifts for the Christmas tree party are not to exceed 50c each. WMC members and friends are cordially invited to attend. 4 - Students Appear In OSC Concert Corvallis Four students from Medford were among more than 260 Oregon State college stu dents who appeared in the an nual Christmas concert present ed by the OSC music depart ment. -. - . They are Miss Fidelia Boon and Miss Mari Doty, members of Madrigal, a women's singing group with 130 members; Don Denman, who belongs to the 80 voice mens' glee club; and Gary Gustafson, singer with Chora laires, the 50 - v o i c e mixed chorus. The program, which opened with a candlelight procession, in cluded selected carols of France, Germany, Spain, Czechoslovakia and England.
