TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Jones-Elrod Service Held Last Month Talent The wedding of Mil dred Claire Elrod and Virgil Vanburen Jones Jr., November 25, was announced here this week. The Tranksgiving day rites were read at 1 o'clock in the afternoon at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. K. M. Elrod, Route 1, Talent. The newly wedded couple is living at Arcadia, Calif. , The bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. V. V. Jones, live at 731 West Thirteenth street, Medf ord. About 30 guests attended the double ring ceremony which was read by the Rev. K. G. West of the First Baptist churcn, Klamath Falls. Miss Nancylee Olson was maid of honor and Weldon Oetken at tended the bridegroom. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white flannel dress made with man darin collar. Her corsage was of red rosebuds. Miss Olson wore a turquoise blue corduroy dress with white lace trim. Her flowers were a pink carnation corsage. White chrysanthemums, ivy end candles decorated the fire place of the Elrod home to form the wedding setting. A reception was held after the ceremony. The bride attended Talent schools and' was secretary at the Continental Lumber company offices. The bridegroom was a checker at the Big Y Super mar ket. Marcia Rodgers Becomes Bride Of George Kress Miss Marcia Lee Rodgers be came the bride of George D. Kress in rites ' read November 26 at Reno, Nev. The bride is a daughter of Airs. Lee R. Rodgers, 639 Palm street, Medford, and the bride groom is a son of Mrs. Lester Kress of Paramus, N. J. For her marriage the bride wore a powder blue suit with pink accessories. The bride is a graduate of the Central Point Higl school and is employed as a secretary in the law office of Kenneth G. Denman and Warren G. Lesseg. The bridegroom is a graduate of Rutherford High school, Ruth erford, N. J., attended the Uni versity of Alabama and is a graduate of Alabama State Teacher's college, Troy, Ala. He served three years in the United States Navy during World War II and is employed by General Electric Credit corporation. Fraternity Pledges Medford Students Forest Grove Five Medford high school graduates were pledged to membership in Phi Beta Tau fraternity at Pacific university at the completion of the fall rushing period. They are Duke Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Ander son, 26q7 Eastover terrace; Blake Maddox, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Maddox, 340 South Groveland avenue; Terrance Hayes, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Hayes, 1307 Queen Anne ave nue; Ronald Wolff, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Wolff, 512 North Holly .street and Kenneth Leek, son of Mr. and Mrs. Aulton Leek, 1530 west Mam street. Sixty -seven new members were pledged by Pacific's three fraternities during fall rushing. All are local organizations with no national affiliations. Family to Leave For Stay in Greece Mrs. Sheridan W. Cavitt and her two sons, Ronald and i Joe, leave Monday night by train for New York City from where they will sail for Athens, Greece to join Major Cavitt. The offic er is assigned to duty in Greece with the United States Air Force. Mrs. Cavitt and her sons will sail December 22 on the USNS Callan. In recent weeks the three have been here with Mrs. Cav- itt's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ern est B. DeVoe, 12 Glen Oak court. The major's assignment abroad is to be for more than two years. Driscoll, 1120 South Oakdale avenue. The sis ter is on her decennial leave from Maryknoll school in Hon olulu, T.H., where she is an in structor, and is en route to the mother house of the order in Ossining, N.Y. where she will take advanced study. While here Sister Edmund Damien is also visiting her sis ters, Mrs. John J. Jensen and Mrs. William E. Neely, and her brother, William E. Driscoll Jr. Thursday afternoon the vis itor was honored at a tea given at the Driscoll home. About 50 friends called. Sister Edmund Damien will leave December 19 for Portland and the east. The DriscoU's son-in-law and daughter, Capt. and Mrs. Wil liam M. Doyle and family, will arrive soon from Honolulu where the captain has been sta tioned. He has been transferred to McClellan field. San Fran cisco. The Doyles will be in Medford for Christmas. Parents Here Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Davis have arrived in Medford for an ex tended visit with their, son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Christensen, Richmond avenue. The visitors are from Yankton, S.D. Rotarians Hold Annual Dinner Rotary club held the annual Christmas party Monday even ing at Rogue Valley Country, with the wives of members as guests for a dinner and pro gram. Addresses were given by the Rev. Robert Greene, Episcopal vicar, and Jennings Pierce. The Rev. Mr. Greene spoke on the need of keeping the spirit of Christmas throughout the year. Mr. Pierce talked on the com mercialization of Christmas, and stated that this was a personal matter to each individual that each person should see that his celebration of Christmas is in the proper spirit. Aubrey Norris acted as master of ceremonies. The speakers were followed by a program of music and dancmg concluded the evening. About 150 attended. Lester Harris is president of the club. Doctor and Wife Leave for South Camp White Dr. and Mrs. A. R. Schoenberg, left yesterday for San Francisco and Los An geles. From there they will con tinue to Phoenix, -Ariz., where they will visit their son, Richard, a student at the American In stitute of Foreign Trade. He will be graduated from the institute in January. The Schoenbergs will return to Medford after . Christmas. W mding Larson- Held in Prospect Chapel Prospect Miss Juanita Chandler became the bride of Robert E. Larson in a ceremony performed December 4 at Nazarene Chapel in the Pines. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Chandler, Prospect, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A., Larson, also Prospects The Rev. Robert Greene of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Episcopal, read the double-ring ceremony at eight o'clock in the evening. Mr. Chandler gave his daughter in marriage. , The bride's gown was fash ioned with a skirt of white net over taffetta and lace bodice with a lace jacket. Her fingertip veil was .held by orange blos soms and she carried a white orchid encircled with small flowers. Mrs. James Carlson, Medford, was matron-of-honor. for her sister and the Misses Janet Gib son, Medford, and Nadine Daw son, Trail were bridesmaids. They wore pastel frocks of net over taffeta and carried bou quets of pink chrysanthemums. Margie and Steven Carlson, niece and nephew of the bride, were flower girl and ring bearer. Mrs. Bruce Bateman, Medford, lighted the candles and Mr. Bate man served as best man for the bridegroom. Dick Walls and Norman Peterson, both Prospect, were ushers. Miss Dora Robertson, Pros pect, sang for the wedding, ac companied by Mrs. William Gaines, Prospect. The reception which followed the ceremony was at the Chan dler home, and 55 guests attend ed. Mrs. Roger Snyder cut the wedding cake and Mrs. O. H. Johnson and Mrs. Arthur Bost wick poured. Mrs. Kenneth Vaughn, sister of the bride, took charge of the guest book. The newlyweds will live at Prospect where both were grad uated from high school and the bridegroom is employed by the Red Blanket Lumber company. Out-of-town guests were Mrs. G. O. A- business a dessert luncheon will be served. ; I Engineer Wife Arrive in City From Iceland Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Ross have arrived in the city to make their home, Mr. Ross havingv been transferred from the corps of engineers, United States Army, to the Bureau of Recla mation, Medford office. They have purchased the residence now being completed at , 1325 Winchester avenue. . . Before his transfer the Rosses were stationed in Iceland. They left Iceland in September, toured Europe as a vacation and arrived in the United States in . Novem ber. Before the Rosses left Iceland they met and entertained in their home Airman Ward Bebb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Royal E. Bebb of Medford. The couple learned of Airman Bebb's assignment to Keflavik airport in Iceland through a copy of the Mail Trib une. After their arrival in Med ford, Mr. and Mrs. Ross were guests of the Bebbs for a dinner party at Rogue Valley Country club. Mr. Bebb and Mr. Ross were former schoolmates. Mr. Ross is a brother of J. D. Ross, Ross lane. While in Iceland, Frank E. Ross was chief qf the technical review branch, engineering de partment, and construction man agement engineer in charge of concrete quality control for the Army engineers. The corps con structed the huge air base near Keflavik for the United States, working with both Icelandic and American construction firms. Prior to the Icelandic assign ment, Mr. Ross worked with UNRRA.in Europe and his pre vious engineering assignments also included the Washington National airport and the Penta gon building, where he worked out concrete mixes and super vised placement. Card Party Members of Barracks 14, World War I, will be entertain ed at a card party given by the auxiliary to the group Tuesday, December 14 at 8:15 p.m., in the Veterans hall at Camp White. Refreshments will be served. Home Rites Wed Couple Last Sunday A home ceremony December 5 wedded Roberta Joan Edmund and Bob Gene Norris. The cere mony took place at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at the home of the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Norris, 2368 Crater Lake avenue. The Rev. D. E. Millard read the rites, and about 35 guests attended. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Drummond, 754 South Holly street. She wore for her wedding a charcoal wool coat dress with white angora trim. Her accessories were black and white and she carried a colonial bouquet formed of a large white chrysanthemum and lily of the valley. . , ; Mrs. Donald Lue was matron of honor and Fred Norris Jr., a brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Mrs. Lue's dress was of navy blue wool. Her accessories were white and her colonial bouquet was a pale yellow chrysanthe mum with yellow button chry santhemums. The fireplace, flanked with baskets of white chrysanthe mums, formed a setting for the bridal party. Sisters-in-law of the bride groom assisted at the reception, Mrs. Cecil Norris serving the cake, Mrs. Fred Norris Jr., pous ing coffee and Mrs. Paul Norris serving tea. Miss Ann Correia, San Francisco, had charge of the bride's book. For the occasion, the bride's mother wore a grey suit with lavender accessories. Her cor sage was of lavender chrysanthe mums. The bridegroom's mother wore a purple dress with white chrysanthemums. Here from a distance in addi tion to Miss Correia, was Miss Lola Mack, Daly City, Calif. The bride, who has lived in this vicinity for about 10 years, is a 1948 graduate of. Medford Senior High school and is em ployed by William L. White, public accountant, as a secre tary. The bridegroom came here about five years ago from Los Angeles. He was graduated from Los Angeles High school in 1946 and he attended Southern Ore gon college before entering the service. He served with the signal corps for two years in Japan and after his discharge, returned to college. With his iatner ana brother ne is a co- owner of the Richfield Truck and Auto service on North Pa cific highway. Party Announced By Thursday Club Phoenix Phoenix Thursday club will hold their annual Christmas party Thursday, De cember 16, at 8 p.m., at the home of Mrs. M. O. Grove, Fern Valley rd. Assisting will be Mrs. L. O. Penland, Mrs. Ernest James, and Mrs. Louise Windt. Christmas gifts will be ex changed and those who do not have a "who-do," are asked to bring a gift. All members are cordially invited to attend. Returning Today Dr. and Mrs. L. L. Sanders, 6 South Groveland avenue, are ex pected home today after tour ing for about three months in southern Europe.
