SIX MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Pageant Written By Medford Woman To Be Presented "When Jesus Was Bom," an original Christmas pageant by Mrs. Herbert Sampert will be presented by the church school of the First Methodist church Sunday, Dec 12, at 7 p. m. Mrs. Sampert and George Goodman will direct the pro duction. Riley Cook is the gen eral superintendent of the church school, and Mrs. Frank Van Dyke is chairman of the com mission on education. The third series of the School of Christian Living will close the session on Sunday. The snack supper will be served by the Junior High Methodist Youth fellowship at .5:30 p. m.f with interest groups for all ages from 6 to 7 p- m. At the '9:30 and 11 a. m. serv ices of worship, Dr. J. Scott Heatherington will be the bari tone soloist; and Dr. Raymond E. Balcomb will preach on the theme: "The Fulfilment of Prophecy." Youthful Singer To Appear Here Ray McCoy, youthful gospel singer and evangelist, will speaK and sing Sunday at the Medford Assembly of God, 1108 West Main St., at 7:30 p.m. A few months ago Ray Mc Coy signed a seven-year contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer com pany to work as a singing star in radio, television and films. He was to have left the last of Oc tober for a year's study in Italy before taking up actual produc tion work. However, he became converted a short time ago and now plans to enter upon an evangelistic ministry in singing and preaching. , In addition to. singing Sunday night at the church, he will sing a feature number at the opening of the Sunday school at 9:45 mm ' m i man Friday, December 10, 1934 , f T I Planned Sunday Church Announcements - a.m. Nazarenes Announce Christmas Programs The Sanctuary choir of the church of the Nazarene will pre sent an annual Christmas, pro gram, "How, Far to Bethele hem," Sunday evening, Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m. This will be a can- dlelighting service and will fea ture various musical ensembles and selections of readings from classical literature. ' The annual childrens', Christ mas program sponsored by the Sunday school will be presented at 10 a.m. December 19. Classes will meet at 9:45 a.m. for regis tration. The Church of the Nazarene will observe Bible Sunday, Dec. 12. , The choir will sing an anthem, and Rev. R. W. Hum will speak on the theme: "The Old Book for a Modern Faith." Topics Announced For Sunday Sermons Christmas sermons are an nounced for the next three Sun days at the Congregational church. The pastor, Thomas Mc- Camant, will speak Dec. 12 on "Children's Part in Christmas," Dec 19 on "God's Part in Christ mas" and Dec. 26 on "The Light We Take With Us." Christmas music also, will be presented on each of the Sun days by the choir under the di rection of Mrs. W. H. Kennerley, Next Sunday they will sing "Holy Night to the tune of Z3rahm s lullaby. Phillips Scion Found Near Las Vegas, (lev. Portland U.R) Norman A. Phillips, 37-year-old scion of the Phillips Screw family, was lo cated yesterday near Las Vegas, Nev., after he had been report ed missing by his wife at Baker, Ore. Henry F. Phillips, founder and former president of the Phillips Screw company, reported that his son was located "in a little town out of Las Vegas." He did not identify the place further but said the younger Phillips was staying with some distant relatives. Phillips was reported missing after he failed to return from a business trip to Portland. All-Day Ceremonies Set For Cornerstone Laying : Members of the Temple Bap tist church, 794 Lozier lane, will lay the cornerstone of a new auditorium in an allday service Sunday, Floyd Yeats, pastor, has announced. Messages will be given by Walter Nunley, district attorney; Willis Loar, president of the Ministers association, and Film Offering To Be Taken Sunday A social, offering to help pay for the television program "This Is the Life," received Sunday, Dec. 12, at St. Peters Lutheran church, according to the pastor, the Reverend Kenneth Korby. The television program, which stars the "Fisher family," has, according to Look magazine, an estimated listening audience of 13 million people per week. The show is produced by the Luth eran church (Missouri Synod), of which St. Peters church is a member. The annual cost for the production, according to the local pastor, is $800,000. The local pastor also draws attention to the fact that the films are available to. churches for showing at meetings;'" of all sorts. . : Pentecostal Church Of God Meeting Set Central Point - A fellowshln meeting of all the churches in southern Oregon section of the Pentecostal Church of God will be held at the , Grants Pass church of that faith Saturday; Dec. 11, at 2:30 and 7 p.m. Din ner will be served at 5 p.m. by women of the church. Central Point, and Phoenix. STOCK GIFT Boston U.PJ It took Patrick B. McGinnis, president of the New Haven Railroad, only 2VS hours to ,give away $15,895 in stock recently. At a special din ner honoring; 578 veteran New Haven employees, McGinnis walked .from table to table shaking hands and handing one share of New Haven stock to each of the long-time employees. The stock is valued at $27.50 a share. Film To Be Shown At BetheKhurch Dr. Louis T. Talbot's motion picture, "India's Sorrow," will be shown Sunday at 7 -p.m. at the Bethel Baptist church, 11 Newtown st. The sound film presents the religious life of the Hindu peo ples .and runs for 35 minutes showing contrasts with the Christian faith. Among the ma jor interests in the film are the Burning Ghats, the "Holy Men," the Child Widows, the Monkey curse, the lepers, the Taj Mahal, and evidences of help provided through the coming of the Chris tian missionaries. During the training union hour, men of the church will present a brief play depicting the idea "This Is My Church." Guest speaker for the service will be the Rev. Roland P. Hood, secretary of missions - of the Southern Baptist convention home mission board, whose of fice is in Portland. Dr. Hood's office serves the territory of the Baptist convention of Oregon and Washington. CHRISTIAN SCIENCE "God the Preserver of Man," will be the theme of the Christ ian Science lesson sermon Dec. 12. The golden text will be from Timothy 4:18. Excerpts will be read from Mary Baker Eddy's, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," page 494. pastor of the Eastwood Baptist church; and Roland P. The entire congregation will write on a card provided them, "A Message for Posterity," which will be deposited into a copper sealed box and placed, in the cornerstone of the new build ing.
