Delia Robbia Wreaths Made By Boys At School Farm Delia Robbia Christmas wreaths, famous for three dec ades, again are rolling off the production line at the Boys Re public, a singular, character building institution for teen-age youths at Chino, Calif. Having grown from a six wreath project in 1923 to a out put of -13,000 annually, the Christmas wreath sale provides needed revenue for this unusual combined farm and high school Krhere boys who have gotten off to a bad start in life learn to become good citizens. All of the Republic's 125 "citi zens," who help to support them selves by working at farming and other tasks while gaining an education, participate in the pro duction and sale of the wreaths. Patterned after ceramic gar lands made in the 15th century by the Florentine artists, Luca and Andrea Delia Robbia, the wreaths are woven of redwood foliage, with brightly gilded seed pods, cones and fruits na tive to California. The Boys Republic, founded in 1907, is located on a 240-acre tract '35 miles southeast of Los Angeles. Its tree covered grounds contain a score of build ings surrounded by fields planted to corn, alfalfa, wheat and other crops. The school also maintains a herd of 120 dairy cattle which ii milked and cared for by the boys. In its 47 years of existence this unusual school for boys has grad uated more than 6,400 young citizens and more than 95 per cent of these students have be come self-supporting members of society.
