The off spring of Jane Wyman, Lou Costello, John Wayne, Joel McCrea .and Jimmy Dorsey Aline Mosor have looked over the family trade and de cided to try a repeat at their elders' careers. The parents approve, not minding that their nearly-grown-up children will be around as "competition." Young Pat Wayne, the one second-generation actor of the group, I decided to examine, already has two speaking roles to his credit, in "The Long Gray Line" and "Mister Roberts." Directed Papa Both pictures were directed by John Ford, one of the master minds of papa John Wayne's career. The renowned director wanted Wayne's boy in his pic tures, but young Pat is remark ably casual and indifferent (or appears to be) about this honor. "Acting's fine, I guess," smiled the handsome boy, who has little resemblance to Wayne. Pat was studying geometry in the Warner Studio school room between scenes of "Mister Rob erts," and he spent most of our interview gazing shyly at his shoes. . - - - 'Tm not sure I want to be an actor forever," he said. "I think later on I'd like to be a priest. . "The best part about movies: I is that you meet all these inter esting people and travel all over the place. In the richest medical journal in America appeared a descrip tion of a method of reducing the d a n g e r of h e m o r rhage after tonsillec t o m y, by a member of the Department of Surgery, Divi 8 i o n of Oto laryngology, of one of the foremost schools of medicine and Pr. Brady surgery. The operation takes about 30 minutes for an adult, twenty minutes for a child. Main fea- tur of the method is that after blunt dissection, and bold wire snare to remove tonsil tissue ex tending into the tongue, the operator inserts four or f lve in terrupted catgut sutures to close the wound completely but with out undue tension. Then the whole procedure is repeated on the other side of the throat. Whatdaya mean formidable? ' ... j The surgeon who describes ! closed fossa tonsillectomy does not explain, probably doesn't think it necessary to explain why we should make a major operation, out of what should be a simple office or home opera tion, as simple, as painful or painless and as same as the ex traction of a tooth tonsillo tomy, instantaneously "c 1 i p ping" or slicing off the obstruct ing portion of tonsil. I just can't understand why a physician, surgeon or throat specialist should attempt any thing more than simple tonsillo tomy for enlarged tonsils.
