Catholic Parish To Collect Clothes Used clothing, blankets, and shoes for Vietnam, Korea, and refugees in Europe and the Near and Far East will be collected by Sacred Heart of Jesus parish during the week of Nov. 21, it was announced Saturday by the Very Rev. Nicholas J. Deis, pas tor of the church. All parishes of the archdiocese of western Oregon are cooperat ing , in a nationwide campaign under auspices of War Relief Services of the National Catho lic Welfare conference. All type . of used but service able shoes, tied in pairs, are re quested, as well as any kind of warm garments, knitted wear, blankets and bedding for per sons of any age, including in fants. They will be distributed free of charge through existing charitable agencies overseas. If cash is contributed, checks should be made payable to "Thanksgiving Clothing Collection." C of C Directors Nomination Slated The annual nomination of can didates for the board of directors of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce is being conducted this week. Eighteen of the 627 chamber members are being nominated by ballots from all members, and from these 18, nine new direct ors will be elected later. Retiring members of the board include Shelby Tuttle, C. E. Hedberg, Otto Bohnert, James Dunlevy, Al Dumas, Chet Hub bard, A. A. Lausmann and Rob ert Root. Walt Garner, chamber president, will be retained on the board for another year in an ad visory capacity. Holdover board members are Dwight Houghton, Frank Bash, Jack Creager, Otto Ewaldsen, Bill Barker, Joe Naumes, H. D. Christensen, Ernie DeVoe, John Pletsch, Bert Thierolf, .Jack Crawford, Lou Bates, Everett Faber, Mark Goldy and Otto Frohnmayer.
