PLYMOUTHS LOWER, WIDER The 1955 Plymouth auto mobiles, which go on display next Wednesday at three Med ford firms, are lower, wider and more than 10 inches longer than previous models. For the first time, Plymouths are of fered with a V-8 engine as well as a six, and the most power ful cars ever built by Plymouth. Models are available in a full range, of automatic and. power-assisted devices, including electric window lifts ,and power seat adjustments. Shown above is the Belvedere sport coupe. I like the actresses whose crowning glory still crowns their beautiful fades. As for examples, Barbara Stanwyck, Greer Gar son, Janis Paige, Kim Stanley, Rhonda Fleming and Kitty Car lisle. - . "Buster Keaton, the film actor will make his first appearance on the New York stage next January.". So writes a New York drama scribe. Buster Keaton appeared on the New York stage over forty years ago as a member of the vaudeville act billed as the Three Keatons. FHA Loan Discussion Meeting Is Scheduled Grants Pass An open meet ing to discuss Farmers Home Administration soil and water conservation loans will be held on the second floor of the court house annex in Grants Pass No vember 17 at 10 a:m., William N. The new models have been completely redesigned, and feature lower, wider and longer styling as well as more pow erful engines including a V-8. 1955 Plymouths To Be Displayed Here Starling Wednesday Three Medford motor dealers will put the new 1955 Plymouth automobiles on display this Wednesday. The cars, which have been completely restyled, will be shown at Leever Motor company, 315 East Fifth st., Hamlin Motor company, 121 North Bartlett st., and the Dick Knight company, 33 South Riverside ave. Most Powerful The 1955 Plymouths are the most powerful ever built. The engines available are a 117 horsepower six, a 157 horse power V-8 and a 167-horsepower V-8. The 167 HP engine is also available with a four-barrel car buretor and a manifold increas ing the HP rating to 177. Optional equipment available includes a full range of auto matic and power assist devices, including automatic transmis sion, power steering, brakes, seat adjustments, window regu lators and adjustable speed elec tric windshield wipers. Aircon ditioning also is available. 12 Models There are 12 models in the 1955 line, including for the first time a four-door version of the famous Plymouth Suburban sta tion wagon.. Everything about the new models 'is new, Plymouth offic ials report, and basic designing started three years ago. Changes apply in the styling and interior decor, as well as to structural de tails, frame, suspension system, interior Ventilation and heating systems. Styling Features Among the distinctive styling features are a' low silhouette, slimness and sleekness of body lines, deeply recessed head and tail lights, and an overall appear ance of forward motion. The premise in making the designs was the conception of unit, to begin with, with orna mentation used only to accentu ate design, rather than being used in place of style. All of the cars are longer; lower and wider, withront seats having 3.2 inches more width and rear seats 5.9 inches. The Laymen's Missionary movement is sponsoring for the 24th year a Men and Missions Sunday in American churches. It will be observed at the Med ford Free Methodist church to day. : . . ' ' The program is open to all in terested," church "officers an nounced. Morning worship will be at 11 a.m., and at 7:30 p.m., an evangelistic and missionary rally is slated. The Rev. Ronald Collett will speak at the evening meeting and show pictures of his missionary work. Mrs. Col lett also will be at the meeting. Men and Missions Sunday was first recognized in the Free Meth odist church in 1951 when 300 churches contributed $3,600. Last year 900 churches of the de nomination contributed $80,000. It is hoped that hot less than 1,- 300 churches will cooperate this year. The purpose is to send 52 new missionaries; into . 20 mis sion fields. Five cents per day per member will provide the needed budget, ; officers point out. . Book Week Slated; Plan Open House Book Week starts tomorrow, according to the children's de partment the Medford Public Library. Mrs. Nora Jane McKay, chil dren's librarian, announced that the junior department will cele brate with a showing of a large assortment of new books for every age, from picture books for small youngsters to sports and sciencefiction for teenagers to career Dooks for older stu dents. . The department will hold op en house during the week, and will remain open, until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.' each week day, with closing hour 8(30 p.m, on Tuesdays, which is family night. .. - The new books, after being on display all week; will go into circulation on Saturday? As an added attraction, - a display of some old children's books will be shown. The motto for Book Week is "Let's Read," Mrs. McKay said. Clark Walker Elected Realty Board Leader - Clark Walker was elected new president of the Medford Realty Board at a meeting at the Med ford hotel Friday noon. He suc ceeds Max Cramer. She went there from her home, La Grande, where she was also employed in the same work. Vern Hahn, one of the 16 directors of the Oregon Milk Producers Committee, said Saturday the OMPC would meet in .Portland next Tuesday to consider whether to seek a federal milk marketing order for Oregon, now that the milk control law is out.
