U.R) The Kremlin has seen to it that "there are too many fingers on too many triggers for any real probability of peace in the Orient," according to Frank H. Bartholomew of the United Press. The result is that the wars and turbulence of Asia will domin ate the headlines for the months ahead with increasing fre quency, the United Press first vice president said. Ike Says Religious Faith Under Attack ' New York (U.R) President Eisenhower believes religious faith is "under massive attack' by "atheistic materialism." "In a letter to the American Bible Society, Mr. Eisenhower ' endorsed the group's annual worldwide Bible reading pro gram which takes place between Thanksgiving and Christmas each year. 1 The President said the world wide Bible reading program is "an act whioh. fuels the flame of ' our faith." He added that he hoped its success- this year would be greater than ever. Committee Studies School Support Fund Salem U.R) Oregon's basic school support fund and its use were being studied here today by a citizens committee of 39. The committee met yesterday to study the matter of taxes and increased costs of education and to go over a survey of the basic school support . fund made by Dr. Miles C. Romney of the Uni versity of Oregon school of edu cation. The committee, named by the State Board of Education, rep resents the state Grange, labor, Industry. Chambers of Com- imerce, League of Women Vot ers, American Association of Uni versity Women, and Parent Teacher Associations. BURNED BY EXPLOSION " Eugene U.R) Mrs. Myrtle Sharp, 68, was in serious condi tion in Sacred Heart hospital here today with first, second and third degree burns suffered when a gas-fired oven exploded. The accident occurred yester day in Mrs. Sharp's trailerhouse , home. The dwelling was demol ished by the blast. S2ND TRAFFIC DEATH Portland U.R) Thomas Les lie Robinson, Portland, was killed early today when his car struck a tree. He was alone in the car. It was Portland's 32nd 1954 traffic fatality. 1 . Iron Lung Patient Gives Birth To Son Seattle (U.R) Mrs. Mary- lin Angell, 27, a polio victim, last night became the mother of six-pound, one-ounce boy in a Caesarean section delivery per formed while attendants man aged a respirator aid. Back in her iron lung on the fourth floor of King County hos pital, Mrs.-Angell was reported as "doing fine. "He'll be called James Emer son Angell," said the baby's father, Sam Angell. "We decided that whether he was a boy or girl, the middle name would be Emerson, after the Emerson tank respirator that - has kept his mother alive."
