Sponsors Party As School Benefit West Side Mothers club spon sored a benefit public card party last week,! with 30 tables of players attending. It was held in the West Side school gymnasium, which had been made . colorful with fall leaves and chrysanthe mums. Dessert was served, and many ' prizes awarded. The prizes were donated by Medford and valley business houses, and were much appreciated by mothers of the club, it is stated. " ' ' Among the mothers who work ed on the project - were Mrs. Wayne Stine,, Mrs. Victor . Ken gla, Mrs. E. E. Givens, Mrs. Fred Beck, Mrs. . PICARD H.i'a.: CERTIFIED MASTER WATCHMAKER United Nations To Be Topic Of Talk Here Everyone interested in the United Nations is invited to hear, the president' of Oregon United Nations' association, Dr. Karlin M. Capper-Johnson, when a . v. : wwAW -y y. v. v .va 1 c PRQP. CAPPER-JOHNSON he speaks in Medford Thursday, November 11, at'the YMCA. The talk is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a discussion pe riod. Dr. Capper-Johnson's talk here is being sponsored by Med ford Council of Church Women and the YMCA. He will discuss the means, by which individual citizens can support the UN. The speaker, professor of his tory and international, relations at Lewis and Clark college, has lived and traveled in Europe. A graduate of Oxford college, Eng land, his native country, Mr. Capper-Johnson has organized a number of international con ferences and societies devoted to world affairs and has carried out governmental missions. He was one of the deleeates to the League of Nations con ference of 1936 on security on peaceful change. Dr. Capper-Johnson taught at Syracuse and Rochester univer sities and Carleton college be fore coming to Lewis and Clark. Friday- Dr. -Capper-Johnson will speak for a meeting of col lege student leaders to be held at Southern Oregon college, Ash land, and in the evening for a meeting in Grants Pass. Satur day and Sunday he will fill speaking engagements . in the Klamath Falls area. Former Members Attend Meeting Of Ladies' Club Sams , Valley M r s. Harry Musson served dessert to 16 members and two former mem bers at the last meeting of Sams Valley Ladies' club. During the business meeting, conducted by President Martha Smith, it was decided to draw names for secret anniversary re membrances. Christmas gifts will be ex changed at the December meet ing, which will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Arnes. This is a tradition with the club. ' Mrs. H. Munson announced that she and her husband will be leaving soon for Kelso, Wash., where they will make their home with her youngest son, Marvin Marcroft, for the winter. En route they stopped at Grand Canyon and Los Angeles. ' ' Two Women Join , Gold Star Club At a recent meeting of Med ford Gold Star Mothers, Mrs. Milo O'Harra, and Mrs. Lilah Warren of Ashland were obli gated as new members. . Mrs. James Cech, delegate to the Department of Oregon con vention, reported on the activi ties and business sessions, held in-Taft, Ore. in October. November 12, members of the Medford chapter, will attend in stallation ceremonies for a re cently organized chapter in Klamath Falls. . Mrs. George Curtis, depart ment president, will install the 1955 officers for Medford and Grants .Pass chapters at Camp White November 26. Next meeting will be the an nual Christmas party December 7, at the home of Mrs. Cech. Workshop .
