(U.R) This city is finding out that a system it has, worked out for parking meter violators is pay ing off. ; Letters have come to the city from states throughout the na tion congratulating city officials for their successful method, which is handled by girl public relations officers. The girls, who inaugurated the idea three months ago, write parking meter tickets and leave them-on the windshields of over parked automobiles, just like police officers do all over the na tion, v -;.;.,'"' But enclosedJri the envelope ticket is a card to be filled out by the owner,, if he or she has an out-of-state or out-of-country license. This card exempts such owners from the $1 fine. A place is designated on the card for re marks as well as name and ad dress. . , ; ' ' , .: Complimentary Remarks . City officials say that they've already received more than 500 of the cards bearing complimen tary remarks. The driver who probably was farthest from home was a Lon doner. He wrote on his card: "So-sorry thy happened. When you are in our city, you can park free on one of our meters." A man in Mineral Wells, Tex., wrote: "I like your attitude, put this $1 in the police relief fund." The system was invented by City .Manager H. A. Thomason. "Actually the city isn't losing any parking meter revenue from this gesture, since . very few out-of-city . parking ' tickets are ever ' paid anyway," he said. "And it is a friendly gesture that is winning the city friends." v The most personal comment received , thus far was from a Granite, Okla., man who asked for jthe phone number of the girl who yrote his ticket.
