Jonei. 2325 Stewart avenue, ob served lheir 73rd wedding anniversary and Mr. Jones' 95th birthday anniversary at their home Thursday, No vember 4. The Jones are shown here in a picture taken on their 70th anniversary. Married in Minneapolis in 1881. Mr. and Mrs. Jones lived in that state for a number of years and have made their home in Medf ord for the past 18 years. Both were born in Minnesota, and are descended from pioneer families of that state. - GIRL SCOUTS Troop 16 Washington School -Members of Girl Scout Troop 16 of the Washington school with their leader, Mrs. Herbert McCary, and assistant leader, Mrs. William Casebeer, made a hike near the House of Mystery Saturday, Oct. 30. .. . . Scouts on the hike were Julie Faught, Linda Samuelson, Karen Simcox, Mary Kaye Harris, Carole Newland, Sandra Meach, Ronda Marton, ,Marilyn Shep ard, Rita Johnson, , Nancy Hin man, - and J a n n a Gaye Den Herder. We panned gold in the morn ing and found a little. We hiked up the road and ate a sack lunch. After lunch we went to the Old Oregon Museum and saw the animals and the Old Boot Hill cemetery. ; On Monday, Oct. 25, our troop met at the home of Mrs. Mc Cary, 1057 Cherry st. We elected officers . and theyj are Sandra Meach, president;' Nancy Hin man, vice-president;- Rhonda Marton, secretary; Carole New land, treasurer, and Janna Gaye DenHerder, ' reporter. Jones, Carlsbad Caverns in New Stewart avenue, celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary , and Mr. Jones' 95th birthday on i Thursday, November 4 J Due to the fact that Mrs. Jones is an invalid, the day was spent quiet ly and only a few friends and relatives called. ; i : - .7 An anniversary cake was served. Mr. Jones was born in Dakota 'county, Minnesota, in 1859 and Mrs. Jones was born in Henne pin county, Minnesota, in 1861. They were married in Minne apolis November 4, 1881, and have lived in Medf ord the past 18 years. Mr. Jones has engaged ' in farming, orchard growing and various commercial enterprises before retiring. The couple lives with their son-in-law and ' daughter, Mr. and Mrs. .. E.' Brockway." They have two sons, Dr. Rolland R. Jones, Pasadena, Calif., Norris C. Jones, Minneapolis, and three daughters, Mrs. Brockway, Mrs. Ralph Waldron, Vallejo, Calif., and Mrs. Clyde 'Thomas, Los Angeles. They have many grand children and great - grandchil dren. Mrs. Waldron left for her home last week after spending several' weeks here with her 'parents while Mr. -and Mrs. Brockway made a trip east and south. The Brickways were away two months. They were accom panied by Mr. Brockway's broth er, Royden R. Brockway. who divides his time between. Ore gon, Minneapolis and New Jer sey. He will leave soon for the east. -. - "' . ... .- After stops in Minnesota and in several eastern states the Brockways traveled south and spent some time in Florida. En route home they visited Yellow stone National park and the Mexico. This week end the Brockways are entertaining Mr. and Mrs. Merle Van Doren, Elk Grove, Calif., and Miss May Van Doren, Minneapolis. The three will con tinue north . to . Corvalhs, Ore., and cities in Idaho. .. - Baptist Church Groups Set Meetings This Week - Missionary society of East wood Baptist church will meet Tuesday, November 9, at the home of Mrs. Lucile Brock, 851 Palm street. A dessert luncheon is planned for 1 p.m. ' Adult Bible class of the same church has scheduled a meeting Friday, November 12, at 7:30 p.m., in the home of Mrs. S.D. Earhart, 11 North Peach street. f- Book Review 1 The book review study group of American Association of Uni versity Women will meet Wed nesday, November 10, at 1 p.m. at the home " of Mrs. : Orrin Brown, 1203 Queen Anne ave nue.
