Stu dents congregated on the south side of the buildingjjefore class es to wish good luck to the team as they boarded their greyhound bus. Many traveled the distance to Coos Bay for the game. The team Kellington and . Kellington proved victorious in the horseshoe tournament which ended Monday. The brothers, Dan and Bruce, will be awarded individual cups for the win. Bill Bowling and Larry Ander son were runners up for the award. Other players who were dropped out In the early brack et were Charles Kanehl, Stan Culy, Bob Rawstcrn, Tom Har ' per, Paul Emery, Gary McCurdy, - Tom Y'BIood, Tom Robertson, John Morrow and Leslie Glea son. The next intramural sport will be a ping pong tourney. Mrs. Elizabeth Settle, publica tions adviser, received word this week that last year's yearbook -won a medalist rating from the ' Columbia Scholastic Press assoc iation at Columbia university ; and a first class rating from : the National Scholastic Press ? association at the University of ' Minnesota. The selection ' will be made from one of three i companies. The students will be , able to buy rings or pins rang- : ing from $15 to $25. The rings will be delivered In early March. Nov. 10 has been set as the night when parents will return to school. Parents are invited to follow the student'B schedule and attend his classes that eve ning. A program by the music department and refreshments will comprise the "school day." The Future Teachers club, headed by Jane Kellingsworth, will be in charge of registra tion, while the Future Home makers club, under the leader ship of Jean Coppedge, will make and serve the refresh ments. Frank Bash, Dan Kellington, and Dennis von Ting have been appointed laboratory assistants by Ryder Berg, chemistry In structor The boys, last' year's chemistry students, assist this year's classes in helping with experiments. The History Economics, and Civics association has undertak en the project of buying a radio for the social studies depart ment. A radio would enable students to hear programs of interest to American govern ment and history classes. Don Robinson, Frank Bash and Betty Naylor are the committee in charge of the purchase. Phoenix Grade School Unit Dedication Set Phoenix Dedication of the new primary unit of the Phoe nix elementary school will be held Thursday, No. 4, in con junction with the regular Phoe nix PTA meeting. The program will start at 8 p.m. at the grade school gymnasium. Those from outlying districts interested in attending and in specting the new building are cordially invited to attend, ac cording to School Superintend ent E. R. James. Dr. Elmo Stevenson, presi dent of Southern Oregon col lege, will give the address. Open house for the entire grade school will be held fol lowing the dedication. All class rooms will be open, with teach ers present to meet parents and display exhibits of school work Refreshments will be served at 0:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.
