' They toured the roads esti mated automobile speeds, the ages of cars and the ages of drivers. . They found that the older the car and the younger the driver,, the greater was the speed. Hans Zeisel, a Chicago legal expert, described the elaborate Iowa experiment as a sound one likely to uncover specific evi dence of the causes of accidents. But -he added that automobile accident statistics on the whole provide only a rough guide to the causes of highway tragedies. Writing in the University of Chicago Reports, Zeisel said ac cident statistics often are un reliable because the methods of arriving at statistics vary widely. School officials, convinced that twins develop better if they are educated apart, ' split the children and assigned them to different rooms. "We felt is wasn't fair to one or both of the children to have them living the same lives," said Edward J. Popen, elementary principal of the school. "Regard less nf their physical similarity, we found they have different personalities. "We wanted them to have dif ferent experiences which they could share with each other rather than the same experience which they would receive to gether. Twins generally spend enough time with each other in their home and social life."
