Halloween Dane A Hallow een square dance will be held at the Phoenix.Crange hall Satur day, Oct. 30, at 8:30 p.m. This is an "open" dance the same as every Saturday at the hall, those in charge announced. All square dancers are invited. Doug Fos bury will do the calling. Wom en are to take doughnuts. Masquerade Lake Creek Orange hall will be the scene Saturday, Oct. 30 of a masquer ade, square and round dance. No admission will be charged for the dancing and a small fee will be made for a supper which will be served during the event, according to the Grange dance committee members, Ernest Bur rell and Mildred Messal. Music will be by the Lake Creek Hill Billies. Engineers To Meet The No vember meeting of the Medford subsection of the American In stitute of Electrical Engineers will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, in the basement of the Copco building, it was announc ed today. The technical program will be presented by E. R. Perry of the Allis-Chalmers Manufac turing Co., who will discuss his own invention; a hydraulic circuit-breaker, and the present and future status of hydraulics in the circuit breaker industry. At Lttierman Gayle Chrlst lleb, an airman third class, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Chrlst lieb, Shafer lane, is hospitalized at the Letterman General hos pital in San Francisco. He re cently underwent spinal sur gery there after being at the hospital for about two months. He will be confined there for some time and has asked that friends write him there. King was cited for failure to yield right of way to oncoming traffic. McCarthy today asked his longtime antagonist, Army Secretary Aobert T. Stevens, an old question: Who promoted and honorably discharged former Ma). Irving Peress? He reminded Stevens in a let ter that the Army had promised ''months ago" to order an in vestigation to find those respon sible but tnat "up to date we have not received the Informa tion." Lilt of Names Recalled "You did send a list of names of some 30 officers who had con tact with Peress or who were In his command," the senator wrote.-"Significantly, you omit ted the name of the individual who signed the honorable dis charge as well as the name of his commanding officer at the time he was promoted and the time he was honorably dis charged." The discharge of Peress, a Queens, N.Y., dentist who re fused to tell McCarthy whether he was a Communist, touched off McCarthy's now famous dis pute with Stevens and the sub sequent Army-McCarthy hear ings.
