Give your mother-in-law a nice pres ent on that day. May make it easier for you to persuade her to do a bit of baby sitting. The mothers-in-law treated with the most kindness and consideration are those in Amarillo. Tex. That's where mothers-in-law day was originated by that brilliant newspaperman, Gene Howe, 20 years ago. There Tire four moth' ers-in-law clubs in Amarillo, I don't know what goes on at a meeting of one of these clubs. Get It Riqht ; The reports spread by imagin ative British columnists that those genial Hollywoodians, Da ryl Zanuck and Jack Warner, were high flyers at the gaming tables at Monte Carlo and Cannes' are erroneous. I am re liably informed Messrs. Zanuck and Warner were extremely modest participants in the game known as baccarat. It is the Greeks, South Americans and Texans who are in the "Betcha Million" gates class as gamblers on the French Riviera. Has also been reported that Daryl. Za nuck smokes cigars seven inches long. Get it right. Mr. Zanuck's cigars are only five and one half inches long. Among the Married - I How much of the housework should a husband do? That, of course, depends on the circum stances. Take a man who has re tired on a pension. He generally does no work whatsoever. How ever, his loving wife has to con tinue to labor doing the house work, cooking, etc. That's not lght. That "Le Mini- mym" would be a good name for a bathing suit of the type now referred to as a "Bikini." t - Old Timer Among an amazingly large se lection of different brands of cig arets noted in the window of a Sixth ave., Manhattan, tobaccon ist, I saw a package of Sweet Caporals. Didn't know that they were making them any more. I used to smoke that brand when I was a kid. We bought them loose, two for a cent. There was another brand called "Circle" that sold at four for a cent. Asking." Queries from clients. Q. Did you once suggest a cure for corns? A. No, sir. I simply said that when I switched to wearing woolen socks I never had any more corns. That might not work for everybody. .Badly fitting shoes can cause corns, too, Q. The way it works out is that when a haircut is 75 cents the barber usually gets a quar ter tip. He also gets more cus tomers. It seems reasonable to believe that where haircuts cost $1.50 and $2 that many men limit their visits to the tonsorial parlor. And at those prices they don't feel inclined "to add a tip. Patterson Favors Dam Construction Portland U.R) Dams should be constructed as early as possi ble and "we should obtain all of the money we can" from the federal government, public pow er groups and private utilities to assist in the program, Gov. Paul-Patterson said last night. Patterson said, "power is one of the most serious problems in the Columbia basin empire to day." He said that'by. 1974 an other 20,000,000 kilowatts will be needed which is "equivalent to 40 more Bonneville dams' He said the area could not look to the federal government to do the job alone.
