Newspaper Page TextTWO MXD70BO (OBZOOX) MAIL TRZXXXHX Two Sessions Set By Presbyterians For Church School The church ichool of tht First Presbyterian church ha out grown its present facilities, church officers state. In order to provide more personal instruc tion, and in order to leave room for continued growth, there will be two sessions of the school each Sunday beginning October 4th. Children of the Primary, Junior, Nursery end Kinder garten departments will have the choice of attending either the 9:49 or 11:00 a. m. sessions. Jun ior Hi and Senior departments continue to meet at 11:00. Children registering for the first time for the 11 a. m. session should meet this Sunday only in . the Fellowship hall of the church between 10.4S and 11 a. m. These sessions will run concur rent with the two worship serv ices. Over-all direction will be given by General Superintend ent, Mrs. George Flanagan. James Johnston will superintend the 0:45 a. m. session. There are 95 teachers and workers who will help and it is expected that the average at tendance for the school will be over 600. The curriculum for this year will highlight a study of 'The Church" in all departments. This is an intensive study of the peo ple and the movements which have made church history from its beginning to the present day. Mr. Vernon Wil cox's sermon Sunday morning at the Medford Church of the Nazarene. The worship service will be carried by radio station KYJC from 11 a. m. to 1 J noon. The evening message at 7:30 will be the fourth in a series on "The Teachings of Jesus", this week's topic being: "What Jesus Taught About . Hell." A new Sunday evening feature will be introduced, entitled, "Think About This," which will embody some striking Item of news which is related to the religious realm. The public is invited to attend these services. St. Mark's Slates - Religion Classes Informal classes of Instruction in religion will be resumed next Sunday tat 9:30 a. m. in the chapel of the Perl Funeral home. The classes, sponsored by St. Mark's Church school, will be conducted by the Rev. George R. V. Bolster, rector of the church, and will continue each Sunday at this hour. ' The courses covered will in clude church history, church doctrine and teaching, the sacra ments of the church, church practice and worship, the Bible and the prayer book, with ample opportunity for discussions and questions. The classes, which will not exceed one hour, were original ly intended for the parents of church school children during the church school session, but are now open to anyone inter ested in attending. Kenneth Korby will preach a series of sermons on what Lutheran! be lieve, teach, and confess. Avoided Patterns According to Rev. Mr. Korby, Lutheran! have avoided both the pattern of Christianity of radical Protestantism and Roman Catholicism. Does the Lutheran church have a right to exist alongside the others, he will ask? If so, what is unique about the proclamation of the Gospel in the Lutheran church? These sermons will be of interest and value not only to Lutheran Christians, but to any one in terested in learning more about Lutheranism. Sermon Announced Sunday evening, Octobei 4, the sermons is titled: "The Right eousness of God versus the Right eousness of Self by the Law." The Rev. Mr. Korby will say that the chief problem confronting the church is that she is trying to live by a righteousness of her own, which is of the Law, but the true righteousness of God is a donation, given freely to men through Jerus Christ, through His death and resurrection, and by faith, which lays hold of this proclamation. Holy Communion will be cele brated in the morning service, at 11 a. m. The Rev. Mr. Korby will preach a sermon in prepare tion for Holy Communion: "Liv- ing in Peace with a Reconciled God." Church of Christ Plans Rally Day At Central Point This Sunday, October 4, 'has been set as the annual Rally day at the Central Point Church of Christ. Added to the usual spec ial feature! of Rally day will be the first in an eight week series of special services of a church and home united campaign into which the church has entered. The Rally day goal which has been set, is to have every mem ber of every family present in the services. . Call at Homes Members of the Church have been calling in the homes of the community for the past three weeks ' to help reach this . goal. Many people have made known their decisions to be present on Rally day. The services will include Bible school at 9:45 a.m. with classes for every member of the family. The morning worship service will follow at 11 a.m. with Don Whitney, the minister, bringing the message, "The Divine Be ginning of the Church." Family Night Sunday evening will be "Fam ily Pew Night," with the serv ices beginning at 8 o'clock.
