SCHOOL ZOME
Wk,
HEN epidemic strikes and
takes its sudden and deadly count
of the young, it tears at our heart
strings for there is so little we can
do' about it. Such tragedies may
occur once in a year or two. But the
highway and street toll of young
innocents produces a casualty list
every day, year after year. There
is much we can do about it for WE
are responsible.
In one year 4,300 young lives are
snuffed out, over 200,000 injured
and maimed for life. Three out of
every four of these lives sacrificed
to carelessness are from 5 to 14
years old. Too young to die.
These facts are well to remember
right now because school starts to
morrow. Stop and think a moment
if a school-bound child dashed
suddenly (from out of nowhere) in
front of your car . . could you
STOP IN TIME to prevent injury
. . perhaps save a life?
YES, if you make it a p6int to drive
slowly and cautiously near schools
. . ever alert to the unpredictable
comings and goings of the chil
dren. What's a minute saved
against a child's life lost?
YES, if you keep your car (espe
cially your brakes) always in tip
top shape . . . always under full
control . . . always ready to respond
to your will on the split-second.
Be a RESPONSIBLE citizen. Drive
as if every child were your own.
