Mr. and Mrs. Harold Biffs,
married in, August in Guthrie,
OkU-, have arrived in Medford
and for the time being are with
Mrs. Biggs' parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Delmar B. GUIlspie, route 1,
Medford. The bride is the for
mer Alverna Gillispie.
The bridegroom , is 'awaiting
orders to report for duty with
the Army, and Mrs. Biggs ex
pects to enroll at Southern Ore
gon college September 21 vfor
her Junior year.
The wedding took place Au
gust 20 in Guthrie First Bap
tist church, with the Rev. Les
ter Patterson reading the ser
vice.
For the ceremony the bride
wore a street-length frock of
navy blue marquisette over blue
and white striped taffeta, with
red and white accessories. Her
corsage was of red rosebuds and
she carried a white Bible.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Biggs at
tended the couple. Mrs. Biggs
was attired In a navy blue nylon
dress with red accessories and
her corsage was of white carna
tions.
A reception followed in the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Biggs, the bridegroom s parents.
Assisting were Mrs. Ralph Biggs,
. Mrs. Clarence Williams, sister of
the bridegroom; Miss Helen
Ford, cousin of the bridegroom,
and Mrs. Alonzo Ford, aunt of
the bridegroom.
From Portland
Mrs. Itha Johnson and her
youngest son, Douglas, Portland,
were guests at the home of Mrs.
Johnson's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Heard during the Labor
day week end. They also visited
the Roy Howe and Cecil Heard
families. Mrs. Howe is a sister
and Cecil Heard a brother of
Mrs. Johnson. .

For Oregon, OSC, Willamette
Oregon colleges and universities are beginning fall term activi
ties this- week. Freshmen, as a rule, leave earlier than returning
Students because of special freshmen events and rushing for sorori-
tis and fraternites.

day with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. M. N. Hogan. She-plans to
major in elementary education.
Miss Nancy McKinstry, who
also plans an elementary educa
tion major, left today for OSC
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
E. N. McKinstry. Miss Carol
Bates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
H. C. Bates, will enroll as. a
freshman in secretarial science.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Padgham
have three sons going away to
school. Dick will be a freshman
at Oregon state and he and his
brother Bill left yesterday. Bill
is a junior there and is studying
forest products while Dick will
enroll in a general course for
the present. The other son, Hen
ry Padgham Jr., left Monday
for University of California,

To Be Shown
Here Thursday
"The Terrible Truth." film
which depicts "the shocking eon-
sequences of the use of nar
cotics' will be presented in Med
ford Thursday, September 17,
through the sponsorship of At
tain dub here. The film .will
be shown at Medford Junior
High school beginning at 8 pan.
Mrs. - Gertrude E. Salisbury,
director of the Narcotic Educa
tional Foundation of America,
will show the film and will lec
ture. Mrs. Salisbury will also
bring other films to be shown
oMy to juvenile authorities,
police officers, teachers 'and
other adults. ,
It is pointed out that the use
of narcotics by younger people
has increased enormously in re
cent years, the danger calling
for an all-out effort of citizens to
meet the danger. Altrusa mem
bers urge parents, young people
and the general public to see the
film. -
Final preparations for the
showing of the film were made
at a meeting of Altrusa club
Thursday night. Mrs. Marjorie
Butler, president, conducted the
session and outlined the object
ives of the year for the group.
Mrs. Bertha Hasksin, program
gram outlined for the year using
the theme, "Four Dimensions."

Attends Wedding
Miss Mary Anne Birdseye re
turned Wednesday from Colfax,
Wash-, where she attended the
wedding of Miss Shirley Weitz to
William Jayne in that city. Miss
Birdseye was one of the candle
lighters for the ceremony.
Miss Birdseye will leave the
middle of this week for Wash
ington State college where she
will enroll for her sophomore
year as a major in recreation
studies. She is ' the daughter of

Veterans of World War I will
join veterans' groups in a recep

p.m. at Camp White, which will
honor new staff officers at the
domiciliary. The auxiliary will
meet at 8 p.m. previous to the
reception for a brief business
