Rey nolds Jr., president of Reynolds Metals company, says he is not concerned over whether gov ernment or private utilities pro duce electricity. Speaking of President Eisen hower's new power policy while visiting in Portland yesterday, Reynolds said, "if the policy re sults in expansion of power pro duction, it's good. If it doesn't, it's bad." Company Needs Mora Power He said more power is what his company needs. He wants to expand in the Northwest, but said a power shortage is block ing that. Reynolds has spent $12,000,- 000 to increase the capacity of the plant at Longview, Wash.; on an oral promise for more Bonneville power, he said. But he said thus far BPA has refused to contract for firm electricity to assure the production. "It wasn't really BPA's fault. It was the best assurance of power they could give us at that time," he said. Trucking Firms Announce Merger Oakland (U.R) Officials of two of the West's largest trucking firms. Pacific Inter mountain Express and West Coast Fast Freight, Inc., have disclosed a merger of their two companies, pending Interstate Commerce commission approval A. K. Humphries, president of he, said yesterday that his firm has purchased all corpor ate stock of West Coast and cer tain affiliates, including System Tank Lines, Inc. The companies will employ a combined total of more than 4000 employees and will oper ate more than 3000 local and long-haul trucks. Both companies now operate as far east as Chicago. Humphries also said the PIE had recently bought a 25-acre tract in the metropolitan Los Angeles area for construction of a $1,500,000 terminal with of fice and shop headquarters. Bridge or Tunnel Link Under Discussion Lisbon (U.R) A government- appointed commission headed by the minister of works is studying the better means bridge or tun nel of linking Lisbon with the south bank of the Tagus.
