Funeral Services Monday in Midwest For Roy L Pelre Funeral services will be held la Long Prairie, Minn., Monday for Roy L. Petre, 27, of 108 Florence ct Mr. Petre wai killed in an automobile accident 15 mile east of Lovell, Wyo., early yes terday when the (ports roadster be waa driving overturned while rounding a sharp mountain curve. His wife, who was with him, waa injured. , The eon of Mr. and Mrs. Otto E- Petre, Long Prairie, Minn., Mr. Petre bad been married to Margaret Custer Petre, also of Long Prairie, Minn., for about five years. He was a graduate of the high school there and of the College of Medical Technology, Minneapolis, . Minn. He also studied X-ray technology at the University hospital, August, Ga. He bad been an X-ray technician for Sacred Heart hospital in Med ford since November 1951. Mrs. Petre Is the credit manager at Sacred Heart. The family requests that no flowers be sent to the funeral. Other condolences may be sent care of Mrs. Petre's parents Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Custer, Long Prairie, Minn. Mr. Petre was a member of the First Methodist church. BIRTHS STEWART To Mr. and Mrs. Glenn, 317 Maple st., Aug. 21, 1953, a boy, weight 8 pounds, at Sacred Heart hospital. He also is vis iting his grandmother, Mrs. Leon a Roberts, also of Central Point The young man haa com pleted 16 weeks of basic training and will leave this evening to enter a paratroopers' training school. 111 North Central Medford Phone 2-5702 Obituary EMIL VAN WINKLE The body of Emil Van Winkle, 95, who was killed in a logging accident at Glade Creek, Ore., Thursday, were forwarded Fri day to Winter, Wis., for services and interment Local arrange ments were in care of Chapel Mortuary. ' Mr. Van Winkle was born May 1898 in Sisseton, S. D. On May 14, 1928, in Hayward, Wis., he was married to Lillian Kadin, who survives. For the past six months he had been residing at the home of his brother-in-law, Roy Kadin, 928 East Jackson St., Medford. Other survivors include a son, Rodger and a daughter, Marlene, both of Winter, Wis.; four brothers, Albert Casper, Wyo.; Harold, Bozeman, Mont; Hugo, Winter, Wis.; Ernest, Manitowoc, Wis.; and two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Oden, Sterling, Kans.; and Mrs. Delia Pearson, Cumberland, Wis. Freedom Village (U.R) An American artillery sergeant said today other prisoners told him they saw Major Gen. William F. Dean in notorious Communist Camp No. 3. ' . . ' - Sgt. E. Williams. 25. Vicksburg,. Miss., said he did not' know when the men. saw Dean, highest ranking American prisoner held by the Communists. ' They said they saw him before be was put uTwtth ' the of ficers,? Williams said. The information brought back by Williams who waa captured only 11 daya before the truce was signed, was the first relating to Dean to be given by a returning prisoner. It could mean that Dean, captured in July, 19S0, in the battle of Taejon might have been transferred to Officers Camp No. 3- Earlier Marine Pf c.
