(InUrnational) Six Women Missed in Polygamy Colony Raid Extradited by Utah Kingman, Ariz. (U.F0 Six women, who stayed behind when their neighbors fled in a raid on a Utah polygamy colony, were under custody here today after being extradited by Utah authorities. The women, brought here with some 150 children last night, will be arraigned on charges of con spiracy to commit adultery. Russia Planning To Conquer Europe Through Subversion Washington (U.R) Moscow's strategy calls for conquering Western Europe by infiltration and subversion instead of out right war, a former member of the Italian and French Com munist parties said today. A. Rossi of the University of Paris, a pioneer Red who broke vith the Communists in 1929, said the Soviet Union "has no interest in paying a heavy price by running a serious risk of war to control Western Europe for Its benefit." He said the Kremlin plan Is to use non-military methods "to obtain the same result almost without cost." "If France, Western Germany, nd Italy are neutralized, if the German Ruhr industrial com plex ceases to furnish an eco nomic foundation for the de fense of the West, if the bonds between France and England and America are greatly loosened, if not broken, the U.S.S.R. will no longer have anything to fear from that direction," Rossi said. Views Outlined Rossi outlined his views before nearly 350 business, educational, scientific and government offi cials who are attending a seminar cn the Soviet Union sponsored by Johns Hopkins University, The speaker, one of the founders of the Italian Com munist party, is regarded as one cf free Europe's top students of the Communist party. . Flee Into Desert Twenty-two women, their hus bands and 100 children belong ing to the Apostate Mormon cult fled into bleak desert mountains surrounding their colony shortly before the raid. There were an estimated 40 men, 90 polygamist wives ana 263 children in the village be fore the raid, officers said. The defendants were living on the Utah side of the Short Creek polygamy community that strad dles the Utah-Arizona border. Some of the inhabitants were those who escaped from the Arizona side during a raid by that state's officers three weeks ago. Church Opposes Polygamy The six captives willingly sub mitted to arrest, but refused to divulge the whereabouts of their spouses and their sister-wives, along with an army of children. The Church of the Latter-Day Saints disavowed polygamy as a tenet 63 years ago and has since vigorously opposed plural marriages. Senate Committee Tour of Northwest Slated Next Week Portland (U.R) The U. S. Senate Public Works committee tour of the Northwest dam, river and harbor projects will bring the group into the Willamette valley Wednesday and Thursday cf next week. Members were .scheduled to leave Washington Saturday and arrive in Boise the same day, During the first part of the week, the group is expected to look over the Hells Canyon site on the Snake river. The senators Wednesday will stop at The Dalles and Bonneville dams on their way to Portland. Willamette Valley Tour The Thursday itinerary in cludes inspection of Willamette valley projects, including De troit dam. Lookout Point dam and coastal harbor projects as far north as Longview, Wash, They plan to lunch at Eugene, They will spent Thursday night in Portland and leave for Alaska the following morning. Heading the group of some 10 senators planning to make the trip will be Chairman Edwin Martin of Pennsylvania.
