He is an ex marine captain and was wounded severely in World War I, for which he was decorated with the Purple Heart With three stars. It is the one decoration he is proud to-possess. This much everyone knows about his service record, but not. many at the domiciliary know the story of how he retained his left arm when it bothered him after the war, and the doctors wanted to amputate. He wouldn't let them because an Army doctor in France said "never let anyone amputate that arm." When Captain Moneypenny was at the Naval supply depot at Velox, he was a member of the Spokane club. "The captain wanted to do something for the doctor so he went to a jewelry store and bought the finest wrist watch on the market at that time, and sent it to the doctor. "By the time he got back to his barracks, there was a check from the doctor for the full price of the watch." If anyone reading this miracle account would like to know the name of the doctor the only an swer consistent with the facts' is "the man nobody knows." Edward J. Moneypenny, to give his full name, is the father of four grown children, a son who is a "Junior" and a Marine with six years service, and three daughters. Mary, the eldest, is secretary to the dean at the University of California at Berkeley. Prescilla is with Mary at Berkeley for the summer and is debating whether to return to Oregon State or ma triculate at California. Nude Body of Teenager Found On Desert Road ' Palm Springs, Calif. U.R) me nuae and bloody tody of a teen-age girl found on a desert road near here early Wednesday has been identified by Riverside Sheriff's- deputies as that of 16- year-old Cathryn Knodel of Red lands. The body, found lying in the middle of a road connecting this movieland resort city with Thou sand Palms, was, identified by the victim's, father, Erwin Kno del. Father Identifies Body . Knodel, who filed a missing persons report on his daughter after she failed to return home Tuesday night, hurried to Wie fels mortuary here when the re port of the murder reached him and sadly made the identifica tion. ' Deputies said they still were unable to ascertain whether the Victim had been criminally at tacked. They also added they are "checking a few leads" as to possible suspects, but refused to disclose what they were. The girl's mother, Mrs. Marie Knodel, said from the family home in Redlands that the slain girl had been out in the after noon!. Tuesday with other girl friends, but came home to eat dinner. Mother Absent Mrs. Knodel said she left the home late Tuesday with her oth er children, Irwin, 10; Edwin, 7, and Carolyn, 4, to attend a swim ming meet in Redlands, leaving the victim in the house watching television. The mother stated that when she returned home three hours later she found all the lights turned on in the house and the doors open. -The mother said her daughter wasn't wearing shoes when she left the house. The fact the body was found without shoes led deputies to believe the victim had -either been forcibly taken from the house or left in the company of an intimate friend or friends.
