A wire recorder was placed in the room where the birth took place. On the re cording can be heard the first cries of the child. Also -the voice of the midwife saying: "I't a -boy!" That should be quite an addition to the collection of this infant when he becomes an adult. I have no souvenirs of my infant years. Not even a baby picture or a pair of baby shoes. However, my mother al ways told me I was a wonderful baby. Horses & Women. The ""war of nerves" tech nique used by women to get their way with men is some thing the female of the species learns about early in life. As for example, consider the little girl who said to her mother: "Did you ask daddy to buy me a bi cycle?" Mother sail "Yes, dear, I pleaded with him for an hour but he wouldn't hear of it." The youngster said: "Then you didn't try hard enough." Mother ans wered: "Darling, I did my best.' Asked the little girl: "Did you have hysterics?" . Says She. "As to that lengthy Pitts- burgher who speaks in such dis paraging terms of small wom en," writes a San Antonio, Tex., subscriber. "According to her, the petite woman is old-fashioned and has little attraction for the modern male. I am 5 feet 2 and I am doing all right for dates. This Pennsylvania giant ress says though only 19, she has already dated 160 different men, gets at least one proposal of marriase every week, and adds she has also married once and been divorced. As to the 160 dates, that shows she is not par ticular. Most tall girls are like revolving doors, they will go around with anybody. It is my idea a woman should marry once, and for love, not a dozen times iust for the heck of it. This oversized person speaks of a di vorce as if it were a triumph. Is it not more properly classed as a defeat?" Over There. More favorites win at the Edinburgh. Scotland, track than at any other race course in the world. Exclusive of handicap races, the public choice wins at Edinburgh 70 per cent of the time. At the Hamilton race track, also in Scotland, the fav orites win 64 per cent of the time. However, the milliners are viewing the situation with much alarm. The hair-dos are far out in front and the number of hat less woman continues to in crease. The milliners feel that hatless stage, screen and social celebrities have a very adverse effect on the hat market. In Paris the milliners have gone so far to offer to give celebrities all the hats they want if they will oromise to wear them regularly; especially when being photo graphed in public places. That Hostess. Perle Mesla, the Washington "hostess with the mostest on the ball" and. the inspiration of the hit musical show, "Call , Me Madame," is not, as some peo rjle believe, a statuesaue beau ty. She is five feet tall, weighs 118 pounds and is5 in her sixties. Pleasant looking woman but Chsnsy Mill Ordered To Rehire Employee Washington A national labor relations board examiner held Cheney Forest Products Inc. of - Central Point, Ore., guilty of un fair labor practices, and ordered it to reinstate an employee the examiner said had been dis charged for union activity. . Examiner Howard Myers said the company discharged Elvis" C. Arnold "because of his union activities and sympathies" and not, as the company contended, for business reasons. Myers recommended that the board order the company to re instate Arnold and compensate him for loss of earnings since his discharge last February 14. The company has 20 days in which to appeal the examiner's decision. The specialists Sir Daniel Davies of Britain and Prof. Sante Pisani, an eminent Italian phy sician examined the 58-year-old former British monarch Sun day.
