sergeant at a forward air base

Funeral services for Halstead
William Snyder, who died in a
local hospital Wednesday, will
be conducted by the Knights of
Pythias in Medford IOOF 'ceme
tery at 11 a.m. Saturday. Funeral
arrangements are in charge of
Chapel Mortuary. '
Mr. Snyder, the son of Wil
liam and Jane Halstead Snyder,
was born on Dec. 11, 1872, in
Cleveland, O. He was married
only July 2, 1896, to Rosa M.
Runk and came to "Medford 32
years ago where" he worked as
a carpenter until his retirement.
His wife preceded him in death
in 1941.
Survivors include two daugh
ters, Mrs. R. A. Skinner and
Mrs. R. Edward Gould, both of
Medford, and one son, Earl, in
California.

Handles 99 Cases
The Jackson County Juvenile
department handled 99 cases dur
ing July, it was announced to
day. . 'There were 32 new cases last
year. One case was transferred
from another jurisdiction and
the rest were carried over from
June. The department closed 37
cases and transferred two to
other jurisdictions, -so 60 cases
were carried into August
Four of the juveniles were de
tained in jail. Two more were,
committed to private institutions
and two to private agencies for
foster home care. Nine were
given shelter care.
The department had 12 court
hearings, 212 office interviews
and 126 visits.
