TWO MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE - Thursday, July 31. 1952 Society and Clubs Doctor Praises Author Adelle Davis, Dietician Adelle Davis, nutritionist, au thor, lecturer, who will speak tonight at " 8 o'clock at the YMCA, has received the acclaim of many who have heard her. William Brady, M.D., remark ed after reading her cookbook: "The only cookbook that rates a place in my library. . . I advise housekeepers to throw away their old-time cookbooks and be come Adelle Davis pupils." Adelle Davis will present a new approach to the diet prob lems in her lecture this evening. She will explain the proper diet to keep one healthy. SOS Dinner Set Members of the SOS class of First Baptist church will meet for a potluck dinner and busi ness meeting at TouVelle park, beginning at 6:30 p.m.. Friday, August 1. Mr and Mrs J. E. Shower for Bride Held At Folding Hills Ranch McLeod Mrs. Ronald Ax tell was hostess at a bride's shower at her home at Folding Hills Ranch, July 28, which hon ored Miss Joan Richardson whose wedding is planned for the near future. Guests at the shower were Mrs. Ray Briggs and Miss Phyl lis Briggs, Mrs. Robert Darrohn, Mrs. Ray Gillispie, Mrs. Audrey Collier and daughter Shirley, Mrs. Harry Harding, Mrs. Roy Vaughn, and Mrs. Frank Dolen check and daughter Shiela. Ashland AAUW to Honor Actors with Tea Sunday The Shakespeare festival cast will be guests of honor at a xea hv thp Ashland branch of the AAUW to be held from 3-30 to 5:30 D.m.. Sunday. To See Jubilee Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wyatt. Jacksonville, are entertaining Mrs. Wyatt's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Coy Watson, Los Angeles The Watsons have been here for two weeks and plan to stay until after the Jacksonville Gold Rush Jubilee. They have been helping decorate the floats and in other Dreparations for the jubilee while here. Wednesday Mrs. Watson spent the day with a cousin, Mrs Lloyd March, Old Stage road and the couple visited friends in Grants Pass recently. Ruth Rebekah lodge met in regular session Monday evening, July 28 with Mrs. Charles Le Moine, noble grand, presiding. Plans were made for having a float in the Jacksonville Gold Rush Jubilee, and a committee was appointed to work on this project. Members of the Rebekah club also met Tuesday afternoon for a dessert luncheon at the home of Mrs. Ernest Evans, Old Stage road. Assisting Mrs. Evans as host esses were Mrs. Albert Hackert and Mrs. Lewis Jones. The des sert was served in the Evans' yard. ": During the meeting plans for the jubilee float were completed. Guests present were Mrs. Ernest Evans, Mrs. H. B. Enderson, San Francisco, who is a house guest of Mr. Carl Garmen; and Miss Ethel Turner, San Francisco, who is visiting Mrs. Lewis Jones, Applegate. Crawfords Move Here From Alaska Mr. and Mrs. Bill Crawford moved to Medford from Valdez, Alaska, this week and are temp orarily making their home with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Crawford, 515 West 2nd street, Medford. The Crawfords moved to Al aska two years ago from Med ford and Mr. Crawford was em ployed by Alaska Freight Lines. He was born in Medford and lived here most of his life. Be fore moving to Valdez he was with the Oregon - Nevada - Cal ifornia Fast Freight company and Mrs. Crawford was employ ed by the Southern Oregon Title company. Pacific Telephone, Progress Noted Toward Auditorium Considerable progress has been made in the preliminary work of forming an organization and planning a campaign to secure a civic auditorium here, accord ing to A. A. Lausmann, chairman of the Civic Auditorium associa tion which was set up a few weeks ago. Chairman Lausmann reported today that a number of civic minded men and women of the community are giving the pro motional effort generous support and that church groups and women's organizations have ex pressed interest and offered help in the campaign. "These groups are heartily supporting the ef forts of the association because of the opportunity they see for the cultural advancement of the community which would be pos sible if facilities were available," Lausmann said. Services Given Free Lausmann also stated that the city planning commission and county court are working with the association in efforts to co ordinate all plans for present and future development of the auditorium. The firm of Harvey and W a t k i n s, consulting - en gineers, is cooperating in pre liminary matters, and two local architects,, William Laing' and Robert J. Keeney, have offered to draw preliminary sketches of the structure without charge, it was revealed. Attorney Stanley Jones has proferred free service in con nection with legal questions which may arise and Col. Ben Stafford has volunteered his services as full time adminis trative assistant to Chairman Lausmann, the latter said. It is planned, to appoint tem porary committees to handle all phases of the auditorium cam paign in the near future, accord ing to the chairman, who added that individual suggestions and contributions will be gladly re ceived. Eisenhower and 18 for Gov. Adlai Stevenson, in dicating that 26 more guests were registered than four years ago. CAR TURNS OVER A car driven by Arthur G. Cleveland, Jacksonville, failed to make the curve at Bybee cor ner on the Jacksonville highway early yesterday, state police re ported, and rolled over several times. Cleveland suffered a bump on the head, and was treated at a Medford hospital be fore being returned home. The car was considerably damaged, the police report said. Neighbors of Woodcraft Planning Sunday Picnic Medford Neighbors of Wood craft will be hosts to the Ash land, Phoenix, and Grants Pass lodges at a "Woodcraft home silver picnic" to be held in Lith ia park, Ashland, at 5 o'clock Sunday, August 3. Serving on the committee for the picnic will be Mrs. George Watson, chairman; Mrs. B. J. Staats Sr.; and Miss Edith De Vaney. Those in need of trans portation are to call Miss De Vaney at 2-6892. The group will meet in the park's lower picnic grounds, and those attending are asked to bring a picnic sup per, and service. The next meeting of the Med ford lodge will be at Odd Fel lows hall, Monday, August 11.
