Tribune MEDFORD MIDFORD, OREGON, SUNDAY, JULY 20, 1952 Pages 1-12 iZkS' v & J k&-& ? was f-f " i s - Artists Hold Open Air Show By OLIVE STARCHER Adopting a custom long-used by other artists, members of the Southern Oregon So ciety of Artists held a Greenwich Village show in the city park near the library last Sun day. More than 300 visitors registered during the show, and the society, a new organ ization, feels encouraged in its resolution to make the event an annual one.' During the "show the artists' works were displayed on benches and easels, and some worked on paintings as visitors watched. Shown (upper left) is the society president, Clif ford Platz, 1512 Wilson place, with some of his completed paintings ond the start of a new one. Bob Bosworth, youthful Medford artist who lives at 2425 East Main street, displayed some of his pictures on a clothesline in true Greenwich Village style. Shown looking at his exhibit are (center left, left to right) John Smith, 404 North Ivy street, Mrs. Riley Nor ris, who also exhibited in the show, and Mr. Norris, Jacksonville. Another society member exhibiting was Miss Maccine Titus, 645 Palm street, show chairman, shown (lower left) with her paintings. Pictured are (left to right) Miss Venita Daley, 343 North Grape street, Miss Titus, Mi-,s Elizabeth Callahan, Salem, and Mrs. Rich ard M. (Eileen) Mole, 1500 Spring street, another exhibitor in the show. Hal Bishop of Gold Hill and Medford participated in the show and his exhibit (shown below) contained portraits as well as scenes. Pictured are (left to right) Mrs. Elizabeth Ti tus, 645 Palm street, Mrs. Arthur Jones, Mr. bishop and an unidentified visitor to the show. Johnny Ahem was one society member who painted during the afternoon. Mr. Ahem is shown (lower right) while Miss Barbara Williams, 1615 Mt. Pitt avenue, (at left) Dick Carter, 816 Eleventh street, Mrs. Ahern and Winston Church, Tiller, were looking on! H. O. Wood, Medford hotel, was also watching the artist at work, but is completely obscured by Mr. Ahern. Others exhibiting in the show were Mrs. Colista Moore, Rogue River; Gene Ferrell, Central Point; Daniel Tesch, Grants Pass; Mrs. Elizabeth Edmonson and Mrs. Gladys Chap In, Medford.
