QOMPLEX PROBLEM It's not an uncommon thing for people who have money to think that everyone is after their money and that they like them just so long as they can do things for them. This "money" com plex is making the young wo man who wrote the following letter very unhappy: (Q) "I am 29 and lonely For years. I had to stay at homo to take care of my eld erly parents. Now both have died and I am alone. My fa ther was wealthy and left me in a comfortable position. My friends tell me that the men who date me are interest ed in me solely for my money. This makes' me suspect every man I date and as soon as he begins to show an interest I am afraid it's my money, not myself, he likes. How can I get over this feeling? " (A) It sounds as if your friends were suffering from a case of "sour grapes." It is foolish to think men like you only be cause of vour mnnpv. When a young man asks you for dates, it is because he likes you, not your money. Accept this fact and don't talk about your money to him. This Would not only be poor taste but would make him self -conscious so he would shy away from you in the future. Then, when you find a young man whom you love and who loves you, you can bring the money problem out in the open. In marriage, a nest egg is a con venient thing to have. WILLIAM BRADY, M.D. Readers should address inquiries to: William Brady, 265 B Canine, Beverly Hills. CaL TWO THINGS ANY FOOL KNOWS Have you noticed it, I won der? The conductor of this so called personal health service is getting mel lower. Days, nay, weeks pass, why, as a matter of fact, in a dreary val of cessive he the recent inter- 35 suc d a y s didn't call most eas- Dr. Brady perating read er wise acre, I call attention I'm afraid most stupid or geek, to this because readers will otherwise miss it. I do hope J can fix firmly in your mind two things that some doctors (thought not I) say any fool knows and some doctors even qualify the fool with a pic turesque adjective. These things are (1) How to get all the vitamins and minerals you need from a well balanced diet, and (2) How to tell in the early stage of cri whether the in- " disposition or illness is, say, " meningitis, measles, diph theria, infantile paralysis or just a "cold." If the word cri throws you, I beg your pardon. You must be a new reader. It is pronounced kree, it is coined from the ini tial letters of the cumbersome title "Common Respiratory In fection," which designation or classification includes the dis- diseases just mentioned as well as, a dozen other specific respir atory infections which are most communicable in the stage of onset when your quack, opines you have just a "cold." I'm sorry I had to call the doc tor a quack, but space is pre cious and I can't squander it dodging , around Robinhood's barn when a five-letter word will convey the idea. Just ask the doctor who par rots the dictum that you can get all the. vitamins and minerals you need from a well balanced diet to give you m writing such a diet. Tell the doctor you want to submit it to a certain interna tional quack named Brady who asseverates it is practically im possible to get all the minerals and vitamins required for good nutrition from a diet adequate for everyday life, period. If you succeed in getting a written answer from any reputable physician I'll undertake to pub lish the diet here, with my com ments, and I promise not to re veal the doctor's identity if the doctor will approve or censor the copy I submit before publi cation. To date the most en lightening answer the query has elicited as that any fool knows what a well balanced diet is. Maybe so, but still I, Brady, don't For a good many years I have tried earnestly and at painful cost to myself to teach you poor ah, ah, watch your language, fellow! misguided souls the simple truth about the cri. This Shells Saved by Scrimping Captain I GOLFER ALERTS POLICE I Major league pitchers average teaching has contributed to the health and happiness of readers I caught young, I am satisfied. And knowing it is hard for an old dog to learn new tricks I am not frustrated by the indignant rejection of my teachings by readers who discovered this column after they had passed forty. National Newspaper Syndicate, Chicago S, Illinois Tel Aviv (U.R) An Israeli navy sailor who reached Haifa after a voyage to and from the United States said that his cap tain fulfilled his orders to save valuable shells to the letter.. "On the way westward," the sailor said, "we passed Gibraltar on the Sabbath, when Israel ships don't fire salutes. On the return trip we managed to go through the Strait on Sunday when no salutes are fired by the British." Israelis are forever wracking their brains to find a solution for their country's economic dif ficulties. With some of them, the shortage of, foreign currency is directly proportional to the abundance of humor. Take the story about the dif ference between an optimist and a pessimist in Israel. An opti mist thinks the only way out of this country's economic ills would be to declare war on the United States. "Such a step," says the optimist, "would solve all of. Israel's financial problems.". "No," says the pessimist. "that would not do. Where would we be if our bad luck holds out and we win the war against the Americans?" Ken Williams was the first major league player to hit three home runs in one game. He per formed the feat for the St. Louis Browns in 1922. Marion, O. (U.R) Marion de tectives are visiting the golf courses these days but not to play. A resident reported a thief took nine dozen golf balls and a blue summer suit from his car.
