Visitors Mr. and Mrs. Allyn Delara and daughter Nancy, Fresno, are visiting at the home of Mrs. Delara's mother, Mrs. Nancy Ginn, 35 Kenwood drive. Assumes Name Blanche E. Phillips, P. O. Box 1453, Med ford, has applied in the county clerk's office for the assumed business name of the State Dat ing bureau, a business of cor respondence. YMCA To Close The YMCA building will be closed July 4 and 5 it was stated today, since staff members will be at the "Y" camp at Diamond lake. The camp suffered severe damage last winter from heavy snow. The dining room completely col lapsed, and "Y" men are work ing to clean up the site and start a new building. The kitchen and pump house are still standing. Volunteers Needed Low Echo, the Girl Scout camp at Lake O' Woods, can still use vol unteer helpers, it was announced today from scout headquarters. It is suggested that perhaps each father who drives a camper to the lake Sunday would be will ing to work an hour or two while -there, since many helpers working even an hour could ac complish considerable. The fourth and fifth weeks of camp ing are still open for registra tion. Seventy girls outside the area have registered for camping at Low Echo this summer, some from as far south as San Diego, Calif., and others from as far north as Astoria, Ore. 'IKE' ON STOCKINGS Chicago (UP) Women around Republican convention headquarters at the Conrad Hil ton Hotel are wearing stockings with "I Like Ike" or "No Graft with Taft" emblazoned on the ankles. They are unhappy with the stockings, though. The girls say the lettering makes their ankles look thick. Funeral services for Lewis Gillilend, Sr., 16 Corning Court, who died in Yreka, Calif.-, Wed nesday, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Chapel Mortuary with Dr. Jouett P. Bray officia ting. Committal in Siskiyou Me morial park will be private. The body will lie in state throughout Friday. Those wish ing to do so may either send flowers for the service or make a contribution to their favorite charity. Mr. Gillilend, the son of James and Elizabeth McClain Gillilend, was born in Fair mount, Ind., on Feb. 18, 1883. He was married to Rosa Nell Thorne in Newcastle, Ind., in 1903. He spent his life as a steel worker until 1940 when he re tired and moved to Medford. He was a member of the First Meth odist church of Medford. Beside his wife, he is survived by one son, Lewis H. II, Yreka; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Jean Compagnoni, Medford; one brother, John Thomas Gillilend, Hartford City, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Dudley, Hollidavs Cove, W. Va., and Mrs. Irene Doan, Sims, Ind.; one grandson, James E. Gillilend, Yreka, and one grand daughter, Toni Jean Compagnoni, Medford. Steel 39 Youngstown 461,2 Steak Fry Attraction For Trail Riders A steak fry at Leroy Morris' "Hidden Valley" ranch was the chief activity of the Medford Trail Riders in their meeting Sunday. About 60 riders were there. Before the steak fry the group took a two-hour ride to a ghost town on the ranch, investigated an old gold mine and did some panning for gold. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fincher, Mr. and Mrs. Lar ry Flarinery and Bea Bismark were hosts and hostesses for the dinner. . . A pot-luck dinner is planned for the group's next meeting, July 19. They also will discuss plans for their over-night ride later in the month. Thursday. July 3. Barnett, 82, who died in Pas adena, Calif., Thursday, were held today in IOOF cemetery with the Rev. Hardwick W. Harshman of the First Metho dist church officiating. Conger Morris funeral home was in charge of funeral arrangements. Mrs. Barnett was born Sept. 29, 1869, in Cascade, la., the daughter of the late Alexander K. and Celia Bowers. She was buried by the side of her late husband, Frank B. Barnett. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Lily Saltzman, Pasadena, Calif., who brought the remains to Medford for interment. EDWIN WARREN Funeral services for Edwin Baylis Warren, 54, of 10 Quince street, who died in a local hos pital today, will be held Satur day "at 2 p.m. at Perl funeral home with the Rev. Chadwick Harshman, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating. The Scottish Rite will partici pate at the services and commit tal will be private. The deceased was born at Al bany, N. Y., on Feb. 7, 1898, and was a salesman. He was a member of the Point Firman Masonic lodge of San Diego, Calif.; the Scottish Rite and the Methodist church.
