Visiting Professors To Hear Discussion Of Area's Resources Glenn Jackson, vice presi dent of California Oregon Pow er company, will speak on the natural resources of southwest ern Oregon at a public dinner meeting tonight in the Medford hotel" at 6:30 o'clock. The dinner is in honor of 40 visiting college professors from all over the United States who are studying the natural resourc es of this area and who arrived here this afternoon by private bus. Will Tour Area Starting Wednesday morning, the group will tour several ag ricultural and horticultural points of interest in the valley, according to County Agent W. B. Tucker. C. B. Cordy, county agent in horticulture, will explain the pear growth to the . professors through the bus's public ad dress system as they ' pass var ious orchards. From Jacksonville, the group will mo tor. to. the Bear Creek orchards packing house for a tour of the plant and packing processes. A lunch at Ashland will con clude the group's .stay in the valley. Dr. J. G. Jensen, profes sor of natural resources at OSC, is in charge of the tour through' out the state, with John Nieder meyer, Route 2, Medford, in charge of local arrangements. Ashland July 4th Rodeo Scheduled Ashland The ninth annual July 4th rodeo shown and race program presented by the Ash land Riding association will be gin Friday at 2 p. m., and con tinue through Saturday and Sun day. Events will be at the ro deo grounds in Ashland. Sixteen main events will be featured' this year, with stock furnished by Anderson brothers. Bucking horses, calf roping, wild cow milking, cow riding, rop ing races and other games will be part of the rodeo attractions; and six races for hotbloods, quar ter and saddle horses will be run. Parr, superin tendent of schools at Talent, this week announced that ' Richard Dorr, new music instructor, would conduct a six-week, sum mer session in instrumental mu sic. The session will open with registration Monday,- July -7, at 7:30 p. m. in the music room. The lessons will be open to be ginners and advanced students. There will be no charge for the sessions, and some school instru ments are available. All inter ested students and their parents are urged to attend Monday. Lumber for the ramp has been donated by George Flanagan, Elk Lumber company. (U.R) A Ford Motor Co. assembly plant shut down Tuesday and two General Motors plants in the East Bay announced they would suspend operations Thursday be cause of the nationwide steel strike. Veterans' Problems Due for Discussion Veterans with rehabilitation or compensation problems are invited by Hugh Williams, com mander of American Legion Post 15, to visit the Legion buil ding, 531 South Riverside, av enue, Wednesday night. George Shaw, Portland, state service officer of the Legion, will be there from 7 o'clock on to assist all ex-service men re gardless of their affiliation'with any veterans organization.
