Visitors at Camp" ' Camp White barracks 14 of World War I veterans welcomed some members of the newly or ganized Rogue Valley ladies aux iliary to the veteran's group at an open meeting Tuesday, June 25, in Veteran's hall. Before her mar riage the bride was Miss Thalia Doty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Doty, Table Rock, and was employed by the Veterans' administration at Camp White. The bridegroom is a school teacher at Platte, S. D., and the couple will live there. Convention Delegates Elected by Auxiliary; Two Members Honored Colonel Sargent auxiliary, United Spanish War Veterans, elected delegates to the depart ment of Oregon convention to be held in La Grande, Ore., July 13 to 16, at the Jast regular meeting. Mrs. Helen Keesee and Mrs. Gladys Chapin will be delegates, and alternates are Mrs. Ralph Atwood and Mrs. Frank Widner. Also planning to attend are Mrs. Don Anderson, department con ductor: Mrs. Harry W. Barne- burg, past department president; and Mrs. Mildred Jolle, auxil iary president. The meeting honored Mrs. Mary Hofer, who celebrated her eightieth birthday and Mrs. Hat tie Alden, who is a charter mem ber. The next meeting of the aux iliary will be in October, but plans were made for a nicnic at Lithia Park, Sunday, July 27. Dool ey, married June 12 at Carson City, Nev., will live at Piatt, S. D. The bride is the former Miss Thalia Doty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Doty, Table Rock, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank M. Dooley, Madison, S. D. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Buntner, sister and brother-in-law of the bride. The bride wore a white silk suit with white yellow throated orchid, and a white hat. A large memory candle, pre sented to the couple and lighted for the ceremony and reception, is to be lighted again on each anniversary of the wedding. Mrs. Doty was in Nevada to attend the ceremony. The bride was on the staff of the Veteran's administration, having been a secretary in spec ial services at Camp White be fore her wedding, and was hon ored at showers given by fel low employees and friends at the camp before her wedding. She was graduated from Kelsey Jenney college in San Diego fol lowing graduation from Overton High school in southern Nevada. ' The bridegroom is an instruc tor in the high school of Platte. He was graduated from South Dakota State Agricultural col lege, Brookings, and is working towards a master's degree. He served with the air forces of the army during World War n. Stassen's name will be placed in nomination at the Republican National convention by . the Re publican state chairwoman of Minnesota, he announced today. Stassen said . Mrs. Mariorie Howard, Excelsior, Minn., a del-egate-at-large from Minnesota, will nominate him. Daniel C. Earnest First Baptist church was the scene of the wedding of Miss Elsie Brown, daughter of Mrs. Beulah Brown, Yakima, Wash., to Robert F. Earnest, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Earnest, 60 North Orange street, Medford, in an evening ceremony June 20. j Church decorations wera bas kets of gladioli and candelabra holding tapers. The Rev. Wolf ord A. Dawes officiated. The bride was married in a gray suit with fuchsia accessor ies. Her flowers were white car nations around a center of orchids. Maid of honor was Miss Lu cille Brown, sister of the bride, Yakima, Wash. She wore a gray suit with red accessories. Her flowers were white carnations and Ester Reed daisies. The bridesmaid, Miss Lois Ann Glenn, was attired in a tan suit and green accessories. She car ried red carnations and Ester Reed. daisies. Miss Elle Kaye Morgan, niece of the bride, from Pittsburg, Calif., was flower girl. Her dress was white and she wore blue hair ribbons. The bride was given in mar riage by her brother,- Lee Brown, Yakima. Best man was Jim Wilson, and ushers were Bill Arnold and Dave Johnson. Glenn Lamb sang two vocal solos. Following the ceremony a re ception was given by Mrs. Ear nest and Mrs. L. K. Davis, at the church. The. couple are now at home at 240 North Holly street, Med ford, after a wedding trip to Oregon Caves. The bridegroom is employed by the5 Retail Credit company as an insurance inspec tor, and the bride is an operator at the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company. . Valley Delegates Attend Convention Of PEO Sisterhood The recent 41st annual con vention of Oregon State chapt er, PEO sisterhood, was attend ed by three Medford delegates and two from Ashland. They were Mrs. Frank Van Dyke, Chapter AA; Mrs. Lawrence Butler, BE; Mrs. R. E. Mencke, CG, Medford; Mrs. O. F. Sil ver, AC, and Mrs. H. S. Ingle, BN, Ashland. Dr. Morgan S. Odell, president of Lewis and Clark college, ad dressed the convention during the "educational hour." During this program announcement was made of . several scholarships: Four- Oregon " girls won - $450 scholarships to Cottey college, Nevada, Mo.,' entirely supported by the various chapters of the national sisterhood, and five $125 scholarships were awarded to Oregon girls who will attend schools in this state. ... Anderson, Camp White, married Mrs. Aud rey Alice Schultz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Barbee, 283 Berrydale, Medford, to John Williams Berry, 520 Crater Lake avenue, Medford, in a double ring ceremony at Friends church on the afternoon of June 8. The bride wore a dress of pink lace with white accessories. Her flowers were white orchids., Mrs. Owen Benton, matron-of-hqnor, wore a navy blue dress with navy and white accessories. Pink carnations and pink rosebuds were her flowers. The bride's mother chose navy blue with light blue and navy accessories, and a pink carnation corsage. Acting as best man was the bride's brother, Bob Barbee. Jim Smith was usher. Providing wed ding music were Mrs. Marjorie Crisman and Miss Beverly Jones, cousin of the bride. A reception was held on the lawn of the bride's parents home directly following the ceremony. The newlyweds are living at 293 Berrydale, Medford, . after returning from a wedding trip to Victoria and Vancouver, B. C. The bride, who attended Med ford high school and Southern Oregon college, is employed by Oak Grove school district as a teacher. Stockwell, Yreka, Calif., became the bride of Par rel Comstock, Sacramento, Calif, in an afternoon wedding, June 22, at the home of the bride's parents. The ceremony was read by the Rev. Hartzell E. Buckner of the Methodist church. Miss Ruth Pedersen was maid of honor, and Lyle Stockwell brother of the bride, served as best man. Pianist for the cere mony was Miss Darlene John son. The bride's wedding costume was a rose colored suit with white accessories. She wore ,a white orchid corsage. The maid of honor chose a print afternoon dress with a white carnation corsage. Serving at the reception im mediately following the cere mony were Mrs. Jack Mitchell and Mrs. Gene Ensele.-Miss Car ol Stockwell had charge of the guest book. Guests from Medford included Mr. and Mrs. Leo Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Cannon.
