mony held June 8 in the garden
of the bride's home. The bride
is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs
' Lee Hillis. East Evans Creek
road, and the bridegroom's par
ents are Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Barr,
, Burbank, Calif.

o'clock In the afternoon. The

The bride wore a white linen
' suit with white accessories, her
bouquet was of Cecile Brunner

; ford, aunt of the bride, was

Flint, Mich., where they will
pick up a new car and drive Into
Toronto, Canada. They plan to
come back into the United States
by Niagara Falls and then motor
across New York state to visit
in the New England states
Places of historical Interest will
be the main objectives during
their travels.
While In New York City they
will spend a week sightseeing
and seeing radio and television
shows. One highlight of their
stay there will be attending
"South Pacific."

can convention. The Stancllffes
will also visit their son. Sergeant

Stanford Graduates Five
Five Jackson county students
were graduated from Stanford
university during the 81st annual
commencement June 16. Gradu
ated were John Moffat Jr., who
received a master's degree in the
graduate school of business, and
John Gooding Rivenburgh Jr., a
bachelor of arts in history. Both
are from Medford.
Two Ashland students were in
the class. James Franklin De
Lisle received a bachelor of arts
in sociology and Charles William
Jobbins a master of science in
electrical engineering.
Robert Bruce Sund, Rogue
River, received a master of arts
from the school of education.

secretary of the Oregon Federa
tion of Garden Clubs presented
the past-president'3 pin to Mrs.
Shock. The retiring president
then reported on the state federa
tion convention to which she
was a delegate recently.
The club voted to place an
exhibit in the Josephine county
fair which will be held in Au
gust. The coveted Oregon Federa
tion of Garden club's state green
ribbon award for flower show
achievement was then presented
to the group by Mrs. Walter Car
roll, last' year's flower show
chairman, and Mrs. Paul Hughes,
staging chairman for the show,
"Woodland Echo."
A specially arranged prcsen
tation of wedding gifts was made
to Mrs. Jo Frosh, who surprised
the members with her marriage
lust week. Refreshments were
served by the hostesses Mrs.
Carrall, Mrs. J. Kraus, and Mrs.
Dellah in the shady crceksldc
garden.
The horticultural chairman,
Mrs. Harry Rose, displayed ar
rangements, and Mrs. Carrall

Miss Anita Bloch, was ring bear

son Jr. Mr. Shafer gave his

The bride wore a white taf
feta, ballerina length dress and

and carried bouquets similar to
the bride's.
Miss'Delores Davis furnished
the wedding music.
Following the ceremony a re
ception was held at the Bloch
home at which Mrs. Bloch, sis
ter of the bride, cut the cake.
Serving were Mrs. Luther
Thompson, aunt of the bride,
Miss Phyllis Imhausen, Mrs.
Lynn Myers, and the bride
groom's sister, Mrs. S. Van Zel.
Miss Shirley Kcplinger kept the
guest book, and the bride's aunt,
Mrs. George Ragner, took
charge of the gifts.

land, the couple are now at

Garden club visited the gardens
of several members recently and
found wild flowers and shrubs
such as azaleas, mountain lilies,
and lady slippers blooming.
Roses, sweet peas, columbine,
and ruffled petunia were among
the many kinds of domestic
flowers.
In the yard of the hostess Mrs.
Keith Scott, tea was served,
with Mrs. John Hoist pouring. A
visitor to the club was Mrs. Roy
Trefren.
Committees for the year were
announced by Mrs, Robert Bee
man, vice president, in the ab
sence of Mrs. Leslie Horn, presi
dent. Assisting Mrs. Beeman on
the program committee will be
Mrs. John Hoist and Mrs. Frank
Carson. The membership com
mittee will consist of Mrs. Wil
liam Edmondson and Mrs. Car
son. Mrs. James Arnold will
handle publicity for the group.
