Report on LaVere Herrmann,
ex-Medford Rogue and now
pitcher for the Abilene, Tex.,
Blue Sox of the West Texas
New Mexico Baseball league:
"Herrmann is performing unus
ually well for a 'stranger' to the
circuit, and is popular with fans,
players and his manager."
The report is from Collier

DOING OKAY
Herrmann "la doing okay (n

Parris had no statistical rec
ord on Herrmann available
because tha loop la laboring

HARD FOR ROOKIE
Concerning the WT-NM
league, Parris said that it ought
to be at least Class B because
teams play Class A ball. Clubs
in the league are made up most
ly of seasoned veterans making
it hard for a rookie or limited
service player to break in.
That's a big boost for Herrmann.
RELIEF DUTY
Info w o ' v received from
tho family shows that Herr
mann went tho route for Abi
lene for the first time about a
month ago and won 5 to 1
over Clovis. Ho soomad to bo
seeing considerable relief
duty. In ono game Herrmann
went in the third inning and
Abilene went on to win 28 to
12 to over Pampa.
PLAYERS UMPIRE
In the game which Herrmann
won last Sunday the plate ' um
pire gave up in the seventh inn
ing because of the heat. The base
ump took his place and a play
er from each bench worked first
and third bases without mishap
or rhubarb the rest of the game.
