Field Trip Planned For Mineral Club Roxy Ann Gem and Mineral club will take a field trip Sun day, June 22. Those attending are asked to meet at the Junc tion of the Butte Falls-Crater Lake highways at 10 a.m. Each is to take a sack lunch and any one needing transportation is to be at Girls' Community club at 9:30 a.m. The club now has a display of Jackson county material at the Chamber of Commerce office. The display is made up of part of the collection of L. P. Crocker and L. A. Mentzer, Medford. Credit Women Medford Credit Women's Breakfast club will meet Friday, June 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Roberta Daniels, 931 Murray street. Jack Ingram, treasurer and Mrs. Tom Besonette, lion trainer. It is announced that formal dress will be optional. The auxiliary held the last meeting of the year in the home of Mrs. Ingram. A dinner pre ceded the meeting, and nine members of the Rogue River auxiliary were special guests. A special meeting will be held to report on the state convention held in Salem June 8-10. Attend ing the convention were Mr. and Mrs. Willard Buchanan, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Dwyer, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bessonette, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ingram, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Evans and Mr. and Mrs. Knox. Just A Block From Main Street SOUTH FIR AT EIGHTH STREET Two Actors Play Supporting Roles In Coming Drama The cast of "Suspect," Foot lighter drama scheduled for June 24 through 28 at the Fair grounds theater, includes Mrs. Cora McMahan and Dick Kline in supporting roles. Mrs. McMahan makes her first appearance with the little theater group as Lady Althea Const, wife of a newspaper pub lisher. She has had amateur dramatic experience, having ap peared in productions at Glide High school, and in Candle light" while in training as a WAVE at Hunter college during World War II. More recently she has been combining the du ties of a housewife and mother with teaching ballroom dancing. Dick Kline, chairman of the newly-formed ways and means committee of the Footlighters, was seen In a small part in 'George Washington Slept Here." One-time vaudeville en tertainer in Ohio and Michigan, Mr. Kline is now employed at the Buster Brown Shoe store In Medford. As the Rev. Alfred Combermere in "Suspect," Mr. Kline adds a touch of comedy to the otherwise tense, dramatic in the cast of the three act suspense drama are Lenore Zapell, David Whisenant, Jer ome McDougall. Jerre Cleek, Ruth Kilbourn, and Frank Buchter. Mr. McDougall' also is directing the show. Prospect Women Honor Husbands Prospect Prospect Home Extension members honored their husbands with a potluck dinner June 6. Scene of the event was the Community Club. Favors, fashioned from pipe cleaners, and depicting men in various recreational activities, were supplied by Mrs. .Jeff Richey. Following dinner, games were enjoyed by the group. General chairman for the af fair was Mrs. Marry Harding. Mrs. Jeff Richey and Mrs. Ev erett Shafer were in charge of table decoratlbns, while Mrs. Bruce Plngle led the games. Flower Society Announces Show The African Violet society of Portland has announced a show to be held in the auditorium of the Portland Journal building June 28 and 29. Growers are invited to enter as many plants as they wish, and plants will be judged according to the classes given on page 13 of the National society's handbook lor this year. . it is stated. Junior Group Meets In President's Home Junior Degree of Honor met Saturday in the home of the president, Darlene Morrow, 31 North Orange street. The meet' ing could not be held in the park as planned, due to the weather. Mrs. H. G. Wilson, director, read a poem and prayer from the Young Crusader. Charlene Stennerson and Darlene Mor row were given copies of the magazine for the month. The two girls also sang a duet dur ing the 'program. The July meeting of the club will be held in the park July 12 and will be a swimming party from 2 to 4 p.m. Mrs. Morrow assisted Mrs. Wil son in serving refreshments. Mrs. Kader Tried To Quiet Vickie, Detective Claims Portland (U.R) Detective Albert Eichenberger testified at the first degree murder trial of Mrs.,Jada Z. Kader Wednesday that the 22-year-old mother tried to prevent her daughter, four-year-old Vickie, from talking to police. Eichenberger related he visit ed Mrs. Kader the day after she reported her younger child, three-year-old Sherrie Ellen, had been kidnaped. While he was there she objected to Detective William Braly questioning Vickie, according to Eichen berger. Mrs. Kader is accused of caus ing the death of Sherrie Ellen and then throwing the child's body into a sump hole of a southeast Portland gas works. Other testimony concerned Mrs. Kader's background. First Bonus Checks Mailed at Salem Salem-IU.R) The first batch of bonus checks to Oregon vet erans of World War II went into the mails Wednesday afternoon. Hub Saalfeld, head of the bonus division of the State De partment of Veterans' Affairs, said that checks are being mail ed to veterans or their surviv ors in the order in which appli cations were filed after the first few drawings by top state of ficials. State Treasurer Walter J. Pearson was back in the capitol after going to New York to sign the bond for the $46,000,000 is sue to start the bonus rolling. Yugoslavia is withdrawing its entire embassy staff from Bulgaria with the ex ception of one attache, the offi cial Tanjug Yugoslav news agen cy said Wednesday night. The news agency said the Yugoslav decision was made to protect Yugoslav representa tives in Sofia after the return Wednesday night by the Bulgars of the Third Yugoslav note pro testing the arrest of an alleged citizen June 9 in the court yard of the Sofia embassy.
