June 17. 1952 Dinner, Show Given on Thursday For Bride-Elect Miss June Bosworth, whose wedding to William George Hughes, Portland, is set for next Sunday, was honored at a din ner and shower last Thursday evening Hostesses for the event were Mrs. Harper Hamilton Jr., Mrs. E. R. Hoppe and Mrs. Louise LeMire, and the event was held at the Hamilton's home on East Main street. Following dinner Miss Bos worth was presented a shower of miscellaneous gifts, and bridge was played. Eighteen guests were present. The Hughes-Bosworth rites are to be held at St. Mark's Episco pal church. Jult Folks Club To Meet Thursday Mrs. F. F. Burk, 1320 Ridge way avenue, will be hostess for a meeting of Just Folks' club to be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at her home. Other of ficers elected were Mrs. Ross Mlnnccl, secretary; Mrs. Earl Bigalow, treasurer; Mrs. Harold Franklin, first vice-presidents and Mrs. Robert Minear, second vice-president. Elected delegates to the state convention were Mrs. Clark Walker and Mrs. Earl Blgalow, and alternates are Mrs. Eugene Orrj Mrs. Merle Jarmin, Mrs. Franklin and Mrs. Doris Baize. Twenty-eight mem bers and guests were present. The officers were installed by Miss Betty Brugman in a candle- lighting ceremony. Each new of ficer was presented a corsage. Installed were Mrs. Kathryn Thomas, president; Mrs. Wilda Fabrick, first vice-president; Mrs. Kay Jandreau, second vice president; Mrs. Margaret Robe son, treasurer; Mrs. Janice Er- win, recording secretary; Miss Darlyne Rudd, corresponding secretary and Mrs. Evelyn Schroeder, inter-chapter council representative. Following the installation, a film on banking, prepared and produced by First National bank. Portland, was presented. Harold Hosick furnished a projector. , Committee chairmen for the year were announced by the president. They are Mrs. Maxine Bigalow, ways and means; Mrs. Robeson, finance; Mrs. Vivian Howard, bulletin and Miss Brug man, civic and publicity. Department Heads To Attend Sessions Mr. and Mrs. William "Ash worth, Portland, department commander and department president of Veterans of Foreign Wars and auxiliary, will attend meetings of the two groups to day. Both groups will meet at 8 p. m. in VFW hall, 42 North Front street. Delegates to the department convention, to be held July 9-12 at Astoria, Ore., will receive their credentials at this meeting It is announced. Two Women Spend Week End on Coast Mrs. Edward L. Schultz, 412 King street, and Mrs. John R. Banks, East Ninth street, flew to North Bend over the week end. The two women attended a performance of the Clyde Beatty circus while away. Mrs. Arnold Ragsdale Honor Guest at Party Given in Trail Home Shady Cove-Trail Mrs. Ken neth Beer and Mrs. Bert Rags dale, Trail, entertained at a shower honoring Mrs. Arnold Ragsdale of Trail at the home of Mrs. Wilmer Ragsdale, mother-in-law of Mrs. Ragsdale on the Crater Lake highway the after noon of June 2. Several games were played with prizes being won by Mrs. Wayne Ash and Mrs. George Pfeifer, both of Trail. Mrs. Ragsdale received many gifts. Refreshments were served. Clubs Plan Renovation Of Rooms in Gold Hill Gold Hill Representatives of three Gold Hill organizations met Friday at the home of Mrs. Cecil Johnson on Fifth avenue to plan a money-raising event to secure funds to renovate the com munity club room in the Odd Fellows building in order that they may be used as a meeting place for clubs and other com munity groups. Tentative plans were made for a carnival to be held on the city hall grounds the latter part of July. Mrs. Alva A. Walker, who was present as a representative of the -Gold Hill Lady Lions club, was appointed to make ar rangements about lighting, and secure permission to hold the carnival In that location. The meeting was arranged by the Gold Hill Home Extension unit. Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Les ter Thompson were representa tives of the HEU on the clubroom project committee. The third or ganization, the Gold Hill Garden club, was represented by Mrs. Lester Parker and Mrs. Paul Holderness. The group met at noon for a potluck luncheon. Another meet ing will be held early in July to make final arrangements for the carnival. (jg) and Mrs. B. R. Schmidt, and her sister, Mrs. W. W. Trask, in San Diego. At the completion of her visit, Miss Schmidt will take a position with American airlines as a res ervation agent. Miss Schmidt is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Schmidt, South Pacific highway. Corporal and Wife Visit Family Here Eagle Point Cpl. Bert L. Jenks and Mrs. Jenks are visit ing the corporal's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rolland H. Jenks, Eagle Point. The corporal is on a 30 day leave. Before arriving in Eagle Point, the couple spent a week visiting Mrs. Jenk's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Parcells, Redwood City, Calif. Corporal Jenks is an instructor at Lackland Air Force base at San Antonio, Tex. He and Mrs. Jenks will leave by car June 27 to return to Texas. Family Attends OSC Graduation Butte Falls Mr. and Mrs. James E. Rodgers of Butte Falls have returned from Corvallis where they attended graduation exercises. Their son, Cecil E. Rodgers, was a member of the class. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Thomas and Joanne, Butte Falls. The graduate received a bach elor of science degree in fores try. He will be employed as for ester for Giustina Brother Lum ber company at Vida, Ore., and with his family wil live at Vida. Eleven members and one visitor were present. ' Devotions were led by Mrs. Roy Eskew and Mrs. H. A. Dier dorff. A business session was con ducted by the president, Mrs. Lawrence Smith. Committees were appointed and plans were discussed for the coming church year. Following the meeting, Mrs. Bailey served refreshments. The next meeting was scheduled for July 10 at the home of Mrs. C. L. Dusenberry on Second av- able.
