Trowbridge, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin J. Trow bridge, 1625 East Main street, Medford, has been advanced to the rate of personnelman, third class, a Navy press release said today. Trowbridge is serving with Fighter Squadron 194 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Valley Forge, which has launch ed planes on missions over en emy territory in Korea since late last year. He attended Medford high school, Southern Oregon college and Oregon State college before enlisting in 1950. Mrs. Trowbridge said he plans to be home in July. Cable Stolen Frank W. Little, 1602 East Jackson street has reported the theft of 713 feet of cable valued at about S71, city police said today. Little told officers the cable was taken from a Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company storage lot at Summit avenue and McAn- drews road over the weekend. . Saved Life A pint of blood donated by Winston W. Kurth Navy airman and son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Miller, 1980 Barnett road, Medford, was used to save a fighting man's life within 72 hours after he donated it. The blood was flown from U. S. Na val Air station, Whidbey Island, Washington, to Seattle to be pro. cessed typed and then rushed immediately to the battlefront according to a Navy press re lease. Kurth graduated from Medford high school and has been in the service a year. Buxton, 2478 Sunny View drive, Medford, graduated last Saturday from a refresher course for reserve officers at the Army Command and Gen eral Staff college at Fort Leaven worth. He went on active duty for the two-week course which stressed problems of supply, transportation and communica tion support of combat forces. In civilian life, Lieutenant Bux ton is a wireman employed by Trowbrioge and Flynn of Med ford. At Hospital Oscar Peterson, 310 Jackson street, Medford, was a medical patient at Sacred Heart hospital today, hospital at tendants reported. Those under going surgery included Mrs. Jack Clark, - 1127 West 10th street, Medford; Robert Costello, Ft. Jones, Calif.; Mrs. Robert Doty, Jacksonville; and Mrs, Stella Anderson, Route 2, Box 21, Central Point.
