Woman Wins Washer In Recent Contest Mrs. Jess Ragsdule, 513 Palm street, was notified yesterday that she won a Bendix automatic washing machine in a recent con test. Mrs. Ragsdale enteretj the winning 25-word statement. She has won numerous prizes in the past including a week-end trip to Portland lor herself and husband. Last week-end their daughter. Miss Jeannie Ragsdale, with - three young women companions, week-ended at the Bar M Dude ranch at Gibbons, Ore. Ashland Rotarians Visit Experiment Station Yesterday About - 60 members of the Ashland Rotary club and guests yesterday observed the various experiments being made at the Southern Oregon branch experi ment station, agronomic divi sion, located near Talent. Har old H. White, agronomist in charge of research in farm crops conducted the group about the farms. Several Medford guests were with the group, including Mayor D. L. Flynn. John Cotton, Ash land, is president of the Ash land group. Before making the tour of the farm crops the group ate a box lunch at the station. See Experiments They observed experiments being made on grain, seed and pasture grasses, some 46 varie ties of alfalfa being grown for seed and hay; effects of chemical control on weeds; sorghum test ing for ensilage purposes; ferti lizer experiments and numerous other projects being conducted. Experiments at the station are designed to meet the needs of the Southern Oregon farmers, White pointed out. A general farmers' field day will be held at the experimental farm Thursday, June IB. The bill was passed on a roll j call vote, 332 to 7. As cleared by the House and sent to the Senate, the building plans call for an outlay of $2,- 758,318,000 by Army, Navy and i Air f orce, at about 230 bases in this country and around much of the rest of the world. The bill authorizes an outlay of $383,291,000 by the Army and $285,750,000 by the Navy. The bulk of this work is listed in the legislation. It covers expan sion, improvement and reactiv ation of bases In this country and abroad. Included in the projects as approved by the House, are: Oregon, $973,000: Air Force, Portland International Airport, $973,000. Triday.
