The deceased was born in Van Buren county, Missouri, on November 7, 1866, the daughter of Thomas J. and Millie Nord Shattuck. She had spent most of her life in southern Oregon, having located at Missouri Flat about 1882. June 11. 1SS2 MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE THIRTEEN Central Point Legion Will Elect Officers Central Point "One of the most important meetings of the year" will be held by Myers Holland Post 129, American Le gion, at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 12, officers said today. The meet ing will be in the Legion hall. Officers will be elected for the coming year, and delegates to the convention will also be named. The post has a resolution it proposed to submit to the con vention, and other matters will be discussed. Joint installation of new offic ers will be held at the Legion Memorial building the evening of June 26, with all posts in Dist- dict 4 west of the Cascades par- Anti-Gambling Bill Petitions Available Petitions seeking to place a measure on the November gen eral election ballot which would outlaw pari-mutuel gambling in Oregon are being circulated in Medford, it as reported here this week by the Rev. Meredith Groves, minister of the First Methodist church here. The state-wide petition circu lated is under the sponsorship of the Oregon Council of Churches. If placed on the ballot and apH proved by the voters, the meas ure would prohibit state-conducted gambling on horse and dog races, now allowed by Oregon law. The Rev. Mr. Groves said that petitions are available at the church office, and that those wishing to assist in circulating them will be welcome.
