eral meetings have been held
with representatives ' of the

possibly we may be able to settle
something this week," he said.
Meanwhile, AFL mailers re

Turnout at Funeral
Disappoints 'Corpse'
Burlington. Colo. U.R)
Jim Gernhart, 76, the nation's
liveliest "corpse" was pretty
disappointed Monday over the
poor turnout at his second fun
eral. Only about 100 people turned
up to observe his annual "pass
ing" Sunday, compared with
1,20(J the year before when he
first held his own funeral with
a $4,000 casket, a preacher im
ported from Kansas, and all the
trimmings.
The caske't, the preacher, the
recorded religious music, and
the "corpse" himself acting as
usher, master of ceremonies and
chief mourner all were on hand
again Sunday, but only a few
friends and a smattering of cur
iosity seekers showed up.
"I'll do- .. something real
spectacular for next year's ser
vices," Gernhart said. ,
