Big Names Fewer "There aren't many big-name stars left. These newcomers are n't real stars yet." Klosser regards himself as a true artist. He says he uses a special cement his ancestors per fected in Italy, and without this, he says, movie stars could never be immortalized in the cement of time. The goo he brews takes 20 hours to harden, giving him time to deepen the imprints with IS different tools. The cement is so lasting that the imprints of the '20s have withstood the pound of tourists' feet. The first footprint to be ce s7 si LOOK AT THIS FOR A MODERN Choice For Only Your i mented was the late showman Sid Grauman's. "I had Just cemented the side walk when Grauman said he wished he could have gotten his father's footprints in the ce ment. His father had just died," said Kossner. "I suggested he put his own in. I'd seen that done on a store sidewalk in Omaha. He was so delighted he called Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford and Norma Talmadge to write their names on the curbing with a nail. Then he decided to put stars' footprints In the fore court." Spaeial Jobs Klossner had to imprint Joe E. Brown's mouth four times be fore he got the right impression. The cementer decorated Susan Hayward's footprints with gold dust. Once hecklers tossed eggs Into Victor McLagen'i- wet ce ment, and you still can see the damage. Klossner takes three hours to prepare his cement.
