JWQ MEDFORD (OREGON) . Parkison-Baker ' Rites Take Place At Baptist Church Miss Geneva Marie Baker be , came ;' the bride of Medford Wayne Parkison, at a 9 o'clock evening ceremony May 29 in the . First Baptist church. The Rev. W. A. Dawes read the rites. Mrs. K. D. Parkison, Phoenix, a sister-in-law of the bridegroom, was matron of honor. Mrs. Allen R. Gresham was a brides ma tron. Mr Parkison was best man for his brother. Mr. Gresham ushered. . h Marvin Baker, Bremerton, Wash., gave his sister in mar riage. For her wedding the bride wore a white satin gown and her lace-trimmed veil was held in place by a coronet of pearls. She carried white lilies. The matron of honor wore a yellow gown and her flowers were white carnations. Mrs. Gresham was dressed in a pink gown and also carried white car nations. The church ' was decorated with baskets of red roses. The wedding music was furnished by Mrs. Evalyn Graham. About 30 guests attended the - wedding and reception which fol lowed. Mrs. Ray Gresham and Mrs. Roy Stegall assisted at the reception. The bride is a daughter of Mrs Eva Baker, 628 North Central avenue, and the bridegroom, of Talent, is a son of R. B. Parkl ion, Yakima, Wash. The bride groom Is serving with the Navy and will leave June 12 to board the General Anderson, a troop transport ship. He is a ship serv iceman third class. The bride will live here at 431 North Cen tral avenue. Mary J. Schuler, Edward R. Grosh Married Recently Gold Hill The wedding of Mary J. Schuler of Gold Hill and Edward Renne Grosh of Grants Pass, took place Tuesday, May 27 at 9:30 o'clock in the evening at the Medford Baptist church chapel. The single ring service was used. The Rev. Wolford A. Dawei performed the rites. . The bride Is a "lapidary and manages the Gem Cottage near Rogue River. The bridegroom, a retired civil engineer, formerly lived at Wonder, Ore. Mrs. Don Anderson was ma tron of honor and Mr. Anderson served as best man. The bride's suit was of a beige hade and her accessories pink. Her corsage was of yellow and pink rosebuds, Mrs. Anderson wore an orchid dresi and white accessories. A wedding dinner followed the ceremony. :: '' The couple will live at their borne on the Pacific highway south of Rogue River, Seattle Girl Guest At Home of Kellys Miss Marie Peterson, Seattle, Wash., left for her home by plan Thursday after visiting ince the first of the week as a houseguest of Miss Noreen Kel ly, at the Edward C. Kelly home, 906 West Fourth street. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly brought the young women here from Marylhurst college, Oswego, where their daughter has com pleted her junior year and where the group attended com mencement exercises. Miss Pe terson is a former student at the college. Before her marriage the bride was Miss Nancy Jeannette Lorraine Greaves And Eldon Gunter To Marry in Fall Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Greaves, 1156 West Eighth street, an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Lorraine, to Eldon E. Gunter, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Gunter, 1029 West Eleventh street. - Miss Greaves, who was grad uated from Medford Senior high school in 1949, later attended Oregon State college where she was a member of Delta Delta, Delta sorority. The engagement was also recently announced to members of the chapter. The hi lilt eleet is now em ployed as office secretary by Drs. Dwlght Findley and Merle E. Folnr.d. Mr. Gunter, who was gradu ated from Jacksonville High school in 1947, served In the United States navy four years. He is now employed by the American Automobile associa tion. (Brainerd photo) Jacksonville Lodge Hears Assembly Report Jacksonville Ruth Rebekah lodge members at a recent meet ing heard a report on proceed ings of the state Rebekah assem bly held recently in Salem. Mrs. Albert Hackert, delegate, made the report. Mrs. Louis Jones also spoke regarding a ceremony at Salem In which she was present ed the degree of chivalry. Announcement also was made of a rummage sale to be held I June 21 at the Pythian building In Medford. Mrs. Jack McKIm, a member of the lodge who now lives at Smith River, Calif., attended the meeting. This will be the 94th annual commencement at the university and 2.810 degrees and diplomas will be presented. Church Rites Wed Miss Nancy Hunter, Frank Bernard Koch Central Point An event of June 6 was the wedding of Miss Nancy Jeannette Hunter, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C. Hunter, 247 North Third street, to Frank Bernard Koch, son of Frank Koch, also Central Point. The ceremony took place at eight o'clock in the evening at First Methodist church, Med ford, with the Rev. Meredith A. Groves officiating. Mr. Hunter gave his daughter in marriage. Miss Colleen Tiegs, Talent, and George Kekuna, Southern Ore gon college student from Ha waii, sang. Bill Wilson was so loist. The bride's gown of white or gandy was floor length and fashioned with a bertha collar. Her fingertip-length veil was of illusion net and she carried white carnations and ivy. Mrs. Ted Franks, sister of the bride, was matron-of-honor. Her gown of lavendar embossed or gandy, ballerina length, was worn with cartwheel hat and she carried pink carnations. Mrs. George Smyth, sister of the bridegroom, was a bridesma tron and Miss Alice Howard was bridesmaid. Miss Linda Hunter, sister of the bride, was flower girl. Mrs. Smyth's gown was of pink embossed organdy, baller ina length and Miss Howard wore a matching gown in blue. Both wore cartwheel hats and their flowers were pink carna tions. The flower girl's dress also was of matching material and was green. She carried a basket of rose petals. Mr. Franks was best man and ushers were Mr. Smyth and Rob ert Work. A reception was held at the church parlor. Mrs. Gunvor Clute had charge of the guest book. Mrs. Marc Norton and Mrs. Lawrence Konkel served cake, and Mrs. Dorothy Thomp son served punch. Mrs. Jewel Parr took charge of gifts. About 130 guests attended. Baskets of mixed flowers and candelabra decorated the church and pastel roses were used for the reception decorations. The bride attended Central Point high school, the Univer sity of Oregon and Southern Oregon college. She received her degree in education -this month and plans to teach at Ashland next fall. The bridegroom also attended Central Point high school, and he will continue his college edu cation at Southern Oregon col lege next fall. He is a senior ma joring in education. Special guests at the wedding were Mrs. William Muncy, an aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Keith Muney, a cousin, who came by plane from California. The couple is making a brief wedding trip to Yosemite park and will live for the summer in Central Point. Teacher of Piano Gives Class Parties Last of a series of music class parties was recently given by Mrs. Nell B. Taylor, 2532 Lyman avenue, for pupils of her piano classes. The parties were given every six weeks or so for differ ent age groups. During the parties the pupils played for relatives and friends, and the informal programs fea tured selections for two pianos played by four and eight hands, as well as solo numbers. Later this summer Mrs. Tay lor will go to Santa Barbara, Calif., to attend seminar courses at the Music academy of the West. H. Hall Old Stage road. Hostesses were the Misses Mary Jo Hall, Judith Hall and Susan Schoppert, cous ins of the bride-to-be. The refreshment table was at tractively arranged with a rainia ture maypole centered on a large mirror and encircled with brides maid dolls and pink and white candles. Flowers used to carry out the color theme were paint ed daisies, columbine and roses. Gue3ts included the Mesdames T. J. Johnson, Donald Mathias, Edith Whillock, Wayne Crews, Lucy Crews, J. M. Klepper, Han nah Anderson, Arnold Town, M. H. Hall, Lyle R. Schoppert, Allie Turman and F. K. Waters, and the Misves Marie Johnson, Mari on Anderson, Joy Lee Wright, Irene Carr, Joanne Anderson and Linda Lou Schoppert. Miss Waters is the betrothed of Bill Ross Turman. The wed ding is scheduled for late June at First Methodist church. Mrs. Nell Carlton Becomes Bride of John C. Crocker Mrs. Nell C Carlton, 728 West Fourth street, Medford, and John C. Crocker, route 3, box 55 A, also this city, were married June in Salem, Ore. The double- ring ceremony was read by the Rev. Mr. Swift of St. Paul's Episcopal church at 8:30 o'clock in the morning. Mr. and Mrs. Crocker left im mediately after the ceremony for a trip north. They will visit in Canada, returning home by way of Yellowstone park. Mr. and Mrs. Crocker will be at home on Coker Butte road after July 1. For her wedding the bride wore a blue suit with white ac cessories and her corsage was of white gardenias. She was attend ed by Mrs. Clark Carlton, daugh ter-in-law of the bride, and Clark Carlton was best man for Mr. Crocker. The matron - of - honor wore a frock of rose and grey with headpiece of pink and white carnations. Two Soldier Sons Visit Parents Here Robert E, Rae, an Army pri vate, and Mrs. Rae, left Thurs day after visiting since May 25 with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Rae, 819 Bennett street, and Mr. and Mrs. L. W. McCallister, 810 King street. While here they also made a trip to Visalia, Calif., for a brief visit with Private Rae's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Casperson, and son, Carl Gene. From here they left for Ft. Lawson, Wash., where Pri vate Rae is to report for overseas duty. He completed recently his basic training with the 5th arm ored division at Camp Chaffee, Ark. They were accompanied to Seattle by Mrs. Rae's cousin, Miss Donna Harmon, Shady Cove, who will visit relatives at Seattle. Also visiting at the Robert A Rae home for two weeks were another son and his wife, Lt. and Mrs. Gene C. Rae, and their daughters, Cathy and Becky. This was the lieutenant's first visit home since leaving three years ago for Japan and Korea. He now is stationed at Fl. Doug las, Utah. -t Sojourner Members Plan Sale at Meeting Medtord sojourners club will sponsor a baked goods sale dur ing their meeting June 12 at 1 p.m. in the Medford hotel. Laundry CENTRAL & Delivery buck vT Newlywed Couple Arrives in City; Rites Held in May Mr. and Mrs. Victor Theodore Birdseye, whose marriage was an event of May 10 in Ames, la., have arrived here following their wedding trip. The bride is the former Miss Beverly Ann Abbott, daughter of Mr. . and Mrs. Melvin Abbott, Ames, la. The family lived here for about 1V4 years until 1949 and the bride and her sisters attended Medford schools. The bride groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs Victor Birdseye of the Birdseye Dairy farm. The young couple will live it the farm In their own home and the bridegroom will be associa ted with his father in operating the dairy. They made a trip to Oklahoma and to the Walker Air Force base at Roswell, N.M., where they visited Alan Abbott, a bro ther to the bride. Their wedding took place in the Congregational church at Ames and was performed by the Rev. W. Murray Allan. The bride was given in mar riage by her father. She wore a white summer suit with laven dar accessories and her corsage was an orchid with lily of the valley. JaneUAbbott, a sister to the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a pink suit with white ac cessories. Her corsage was pink roses. James Abbott, a brother to the bride, was best man. Mrs. Abbott chose a rose lin en and lace dress with brown accessories for her daughter's wedding. The bridegroom's mo ther, who was at Ames for the event, wore a navy blue taffeta dress with pink accessories. Both mothers wore pink rose corsag es. A reception was held at the bride's parents home following the wedding. Mrs. Robert Ab bott assisted in cutting the cake and Mrs. James Abboii poured. I he bride was graduated from the Ames High school and the bridegroom is a Medford High school graduate. 4 Stewardess Leaves After Visit Here Miss Lee Strong left Wednes day for Seattle, Wash., after vis iting several days with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Strong, Culver road, and numerous friends. The visitor is stationed at Se attle with the United Air Lines as a stewardess and makes flights to San Francisco, Los An geles and Denver. She was grad uated from Medford high school in 1948 and was active in school affairs. She was transferred by the lines from Newark, N.J. about two months ago. E. Millard. Only a few relatives and close friends of the couple attended. The bride is a daughter of V. E. Brownlee of Beatty, Ore. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Luther O. Wiggins, Ashland. The Rev. Mr. Millard both per formed the service and with Mrs. Millard, furnished wedding mu sic. The bride's dress was white silk and her accessories were in navy blue. She carried a bou quet of gardenias,, and pink car nations. Mrs. Eugene Richmond was matron-of-honor. She wore a pink gabardine dress with white accessories. Her bouquet was of white sweet peas and pink dais ies. . Eugene Richmond was best man. For the wedding the bride groom's mother wore an aqua blue dress with brown accessor ies and her corsage was of pink baby roses and gardenias. The bride was born in Jack sonville and attended grade" school there. She attended Ash land High school and was gradu ated from there that evening fol- ' lowing the wedding. The couple will live In the Ge- Bauer apartments, Apartment 2, Medford.- The bridegroom is employed by the Elk Lumber company. He entered Navy air wing during World war II and completed his education In the service.
