On Easter Sunday the ban was lifted. Eggs were again on the Roman menu. The Romans ate only boiled eggs, The fried egg is of Irish origin, as is the combination of bacon and eggs. I still haven't found out who first put a poached egg on corned beef hash. II and when I do find out who this cul inary criminal was, I am going to put his picture up in my per sonal rogues' gallery. In a desperate at tempt to glamorize herself she wore red wigs. On the other hand, Mary Queen of Scots was a redhead. She was the first bride to wear a white wedding gown. Before that the brides wore red. Mary thought a red gown and red hair a bad combi nation. So she switched to white. Speaking of wedding gowns and strawberry blondes, redhaired women rarely marry redhaired men. When they do, all their children are redheads. There's nothing to the claim that red heads have bad tempers. Proba bly just propaganda circulated by envious brunettes. However, it is true redheads can't stand the sun. United States forces never send a redhead to the tropics. If you see a redhead with a good sun tan, she is probably featur ing a dyed hair job. That's all about redheads except to ask if you ever saw a redheaded Jap anese. There are some. Five are reported living in Tokyo. Horses !t Women Right now in the U.S.A. one in every four married women is working for a salary. This is the all-time record for married ca reer girls. It has its advantages. Brings more customers into the general market. Increases the number of smartly turned out females. Makes the working wives more independent. This inspires husbands to keep on their toes to keep their wives contented. Fellow with a career girl wife has to watch his step nowadays. The separate pay check has Increased divorce. In conclusion we once more call at tention to the fact that in some States the husband has legal con trol over his wife's pay check. That is, he can direct how the money should be spent. Rings As a ring for .divorcees there was a clever one originated 30 years ago. This ring worn on the same finger as the wedding ring features a broken cupid's arrow. I hear a lot about divorcees' rings but so far I have never seen any woman wearing one. Still there should be some'way to distinguish a widow from a wife, and a widow from a di vorcee.
