Mother Dies J. Ed Sullivan, Central Point, is at Newport and Cusick, Wash., where he was called by the illness and death of his mother, Mrs. James Sul livan, 84. She lived in Central Point for several years during the war years with another son, Lester Sullivan. She lived in Cusick and vicinity for about 60 years and died in Newport hospital. Wrist Brokan Edward Al bright, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Albright, 1116 Niantic street, was treated Friday at Sacred Heart hospital for a broken wrist, according to hos pital attendants. The boy suf fered the fracture when he slipped and fell while playing baseball at the junior high school, the attendants added. At Gearhari Dr. and Mrs. George S. Jennings will be in Gearhart for the Memorial day holiday to attend a convention of the Oregon Optometric as sociation at the Gearhart hotel. The meeting is said to be of par ticular significance this year be cause of an educational program being offered. Dr. Marguerite Eberl, Milwaukee, Wis., will be the keynote speaker. She is an authority on the care of chil dren's vision. Mrs. Jennings is state president of the women's auxiliary of the association. Cars Collide A pickup truck operated by Christian Schempp, 2117 Hillcrest road, and a car driven by Francis E. Oakes, route 1, box 16A, Central Point, were involved in a collision at Main and Grape streets Satur day morning, according to a re port filed with police. Consider able damage was reported to the Oakes vehicle and a lesser amount to the Schempp truck. A sedan operated by Robert S. Hartley, Portland, was reported considerably damaged in a wreck at Eighth and Front streets on Friday. Reports filed list some damage to the other car, driven by Mildred Wilkens 120 Laurel street. Hip Fracture Clifford Bush, 51, route 1,'box 371, Central Point, was brought Friday to Sacred Heart hospital by a Grants Pass ambulance because of a hip fracture, hospital at tendants said yesterday. He re ceived the fracture in a fall from a bridge, first hitting a rock and then falling into the water, the attendant added. He Is hos pitalized. Padestrlan Hurt A pedestri an, Dennis Mullane, Camp White, suffered an arm Injury Saturday morning in a mishap at Main and Front streets, city police said. According to the ac cident report filed, Mullane walked into the side of a car driven by C. M. Cartwright, route 1, box 89B, Eagle Point. Police took Mullane to 1 doctor, it was said. Advanced Richard Page, son of H. C. Page, 521 South Grape street, and Mrs. Otis Teel, Yaki ma, Wash., has been advanced to Navy quartermaster third class, according to a news center re lease. He has been serving in the Far East with the United Nations blockading and escort force since January, 1951, and has been in action against the communists off both Korean coasts. Breeders To Mtl The Cali fornia-Oregon Hereford Breed ers association will convene on Monday, May 26, to complete plans for the bull feeding pro gram and the 1052 sale. The meeting will be at noon at the Jackson hotel. On the feeding program committee are J. W. Bigham, Tex Clifford, John Bohnert, Bud Hoover and Leon ard Shelley. Bigham is chair man. Visiting Richard V. Living ston, an Air Force airman, third class, is visiting his mother, Mrs. Laura M. Livingston, 513 King street. He is on a 10-day fur lough and plans to leave Tues day. The airman arrived here from Camp Gordon, Ga., and is to report to Rapid City Air Force base, S. D. He is a 1951 Medford high school graduate and a for mer Mail Tribune carrier. Daughter Born A daughter was born May 21 to Mr. and Mrs. James Brinson, at Honolulu Hawaii, according to news re ceived here by Mrs. Brinson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H Catey, 55 North Orange street Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Potter, Portland The infant was born at the Trip- ler hospital and weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces. The father is stationed at Honolulu with the Navy as an electronics techni cian. Rummage First Christian church women will- sponsor a rummage sale Tuesday, May 27 in the Pythian building. Going To Albany The Rev.i and Mrs. E. J. Clark will leave Monday for Albany, Ore., where they will attend the general as sembly of the United Presbyter ian church, of which they were members before coming to Phoe nix where the Rev. Clark is now pastor of the Phoenix Presbyter ian church. Rhododendron Blooms Neigh bors of the Harold Wells, Cedar and West Jackson street, have re ported that flower lovers of the valley should not fail to see a rhododendron shrub at the Wells home. The shrub is considered one of the oldest inland in this area and one of the finest speci mens in gardens of the valley. Son Born Announcement has been received here of the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. F. Cor ning Kenly Jr., formerly of Med ford and now of Manchester. Mass., on May 20. The child, third child and second son born to the couple, has been named F. Corning Kenly, III. The grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. F. Corning Kenly, Medford, and Mrs. Harry B.
