Mental Health Film To Be Shown Monday For Butte Falls PTA Butte Falls "Feeling of De pression," a film sponsored by the Oregon Mental Health asso ciation, will bt shown to mem bers and friends of Butte Falls Parent-Teacher association when the group meets Monday, May S. The session will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Butte Falls High school. Miss Parker, public health nurse, will lead discussion fol lowing the film showing. ' Officers for the new year will be Installed at the conclusion of the business meeting. Shady Cove PTA To Give Program Saturday Evening Shady Cove Shady Cove Parent-Teacher association will sponsor a benefit entertainment program Saturday, May 3, at 8 p. m. in the school gymnasium. The funds derived from the event will be used to buy chairs. Two one-act plays, "Annie's Man" and "What's In a Name" will be presented under the di rection of Mrs. Robert Holcomb. Preceding the plays the Eagle Point High school band will play and between the two plays a pro gram of music and dancing has been arranged. Mrs. Eve Pren tice will present accordion pu pils, Pat Viles will sing, accom panying himself on the guitar, Valerie Harper, Ashland, will dance and Phullis Knapp, Ash land, will sing. Dance pupils from the Col leen Hope studio, Medford, liv ing in the Shady Cove area will complete the program. Duplicate Bridge Club Names Weekly Winners Winning players for the week ly session of Medford Duplicate Bridge club, held Tuesday night, were announced Thursday. Mrs. Frank R. Baker and Jack Barr took first with 72 points, and Mrs. G. R. Owens and Mrs. Marri Gibbons were second with 69i points. Third place was taken by Mrs. Willlom F. Isaacs and Mrs. Dolph Phipps with 89 points, and fourth went to B. L. Sander son and Paul Hatton, who earned 67 Vi points. Mrs. Al Gilhousen and her partner, Mr. Isaacs, were fifth with 66V and T. J. Central Point Jobs Daugh ters of Central Point held inia tion Thursday evening in the Ma sonic hall in Central Point, Candidates initiated were the Misses Carol Hussong, Barbara Pree, Mary Lilywhite, Sally and Susan Gustison. Reports on the grand session were given by Misses Carlene von Buskirk, Linda Obenchain, Marion Smith and Donna Lavin. Miss Melva Chew, new honor ary state librarian, was escorted and introduced. Various projects were discussed, among them' a swimming party to be held May xmn. Committee for the evening was headed by Miss Colleen snook, and she was assisted by Mrs. Ralph Snook, Miss Maxine Day, Miss Frances Hogue, Miss Beverly Hogue and Mrs. Russell Hogue. Lodge Has Initiation For Candidates; Group at Convention Degree of Honor lodge held a business meeting and initiation April 22 at the KP hall. The in itiates were Mrs. Claude Put nam, Mrs. Charles Konopasek, Mrs. Anna Bengtson and Mrs. Clarence Kinman. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Craig Rorex, and the decor ations were the work of Mrs. Carl Bennett and Mrs. Bernard Rice. A delegation from the lodge attended the recent state con vention. In the group were Mrs. Al Boswell, Mrs. Paul Atkins, Mrs. Emert Sledd and Mrs. H. G. Wilson. Initiation Ceremony Held in Central Point By Legion Auxiliary Central Point Mrs. Les Henry, Cave Junction, was a guest at a meeting of Central Point American Legion Auxil iary held recently In the Legion hall. Mrs. Henry, president of Dis trict 4, helped to initiate nine new members into the auxiliary. The new members are Mrs. James Cech, Medford; Mrs. M. F. Naples, Mrs. Lena Legg, Mrs f!. I.. Pierce. Medford; Mrs Archie Parker; Mrs. Albert Thompson; Mrs. Temle Hays; Mrs. James Peacher; and Mrs. Louesa Cash. Attending from Ashland were the president of the Ashland auxiliary, Mrs. Jacob P. Lahr and Mrs. A. Bert Freeman, Mrs. Fred G. South, Mrs. Cecile E. McCoy, Mrs. Ernestine Hartley, Mrs. Marshall E. Ransdell and Mrs. Fred A. Cushing. These women wore their . centennial costumes, which were effective. Frank Marshall reported on agriculture, Carl Christenson on poultry and eggs. On the display table were shown three pair of beautifully embroidered pillow slips. C a t h e r i ne Christenson had charge of the lecture program, which included a march and a paper on the Grange from its beginning in 1867 to the present time, Juanita Scott, Stella and Howard Miller put on a very enjoyable skit. The lovely lilac and iris dec orations were given by LaVeta Knutson. The public is cordially invited to the Mother's Day program to be given May 8 at Grange hall at 8 p.m. There will be some good singing.
