Plan Annual Event

ior High school will give the an
nual Mother-Daughter tea Thurs
day, May 1, at 2 p.m. in the au
ditorium. All mothers of senior
high school girls are invited to
attend.
A program will precede the
tea hour. Girls in the home econ
omics department will stage a
skit during which clothing made
during the year will be modeled.
Musical numbers will be given,
and Girls' league awards an
nounced. Miss JoAnn Larson is presi
dent of the league.
The annual mother-daughter
event is one of the features of the
nnual Girls' league week. Yes
terday was observed as big and
little sister day. today is slack
day, Thursday will be marked by
the tea and Friday will be print
"n cord day, and in the evening
a girls' date dance will be held.

Medford Council of Parent
Teacher associations will be
guests of the Washington PTA
unit for a meeting Thursday,
May 1, at 1:15 p.m. It will be
held in the upstairs hall of the
YMCA.
All members of Jackson coun
ty parent-teacher associations are
invited to attend. Installation of
officers will be held.

Miss Doris Drost
To State Office

for a meeting of Alpha Lambda
chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha
sorority.
Miss Doris Drost gave a re
port on the state convention held
recently in The Dalles. She was
elected to the office of state
parliamentarian for the coming
year.
Officers were elected by the
chapter. They are Miss Drost,
president; Mrs. Fred Stammcn,
v I c e-prcsident; Mrs. Evelyn
Dickenson, treasurer and Mrs.
Chester Peterson, secretary.
Installation of officers will be
held May 5 at Girls Community
club.

ing Thursday at, the home of
Mrs. Earl Moore, Second avenue.
She succecled Mrs. Wilbur Mar

Mrs. Lester Parker was in
stalled vice-president and Mrs.
Moore, treasurer. The newly
elected secretary, Mrs. Darwell
Hendrickson, unable to attend,
was installed by proxy.
Mrs. Paul Thompson, past
president, was installing officer.
The retiring and new presidents
were presented corsages of
spring flowers, the gift of Mrs
Georg? Dorman.
During a business meeting con
ducted by Mrs. Martin, members
voted to make a contribution of
fifty cents each in lieu of hold
ing a cooked food sale or bazaar.
Amethyst Friend gifts were re
ceived by several members and
refreshments were served by the
hostess. Next meeting wns sched
uled for Thursday, May 22, at

Griffin Creek Extension unit
will meet Friday, May 2, with
Mrs. Ed Goehring, 2320 Kings
highway, at 10:30 a.m. The les

Prospect Association
Has Panel Discussion;
Delegates Give Report
Prospect Following a potluck

teria, members of Prospect Parent-Teacher
association held a
business meeting and a panel dis
cussion on "Allowances' on
April 22nd.
The panel discussion was led
by Wesley Stauffer, seventh
grade teacher at Prospect. Mrs.
J. Heston Grieve spoke as the
parent, and six students pre
sented their opinions on the sub
ject. The students were JoAnne
Ilollenbcak, Bruce Pingle, Judy
Porter, Clarence Neville, Leon
ard Winslow and Helen Robert
son. During the business meeting,
Mrs. George Hubbard and Mrs.
Lou Rogers reported on the re
cent convention of the Oregon
Congress of Parents and Teach
ers which they attended.
There was also discussion on
the proposed tennis court which
the organization will sponsor.
Mrs. Stauffer has assumed the
chairmanship for the committee
which is to build this court. Plans
were also made for the conces
sion which the group will have
at the annual Prospect Jamboree
in July. Mrs. George Hubbard
will be chairman of this project.
It was decided that the May
meeting would be at 8 p.m. with
refreshments only, and the men
of the organization will be in
charge of arrangements for this
and the entertainment. Mothers
of the seventh grade students
headed by Mrs. Howard Gregory
made the preparations for the
April dinner meeting.

At Veterans' Home
Mrs. Charles Champlin, so

for the last Red Cross coffee
hour at Camp White. Mrs.
Champlin was accompanied by
Mrs. H. E. Marsh.
Cookies were furnished by
women of St. Mark's church.
Assisting at the coffee hour

Mrs. Warren Elliott, represent
ing the guilds of St. Mark's
church; Mrs. Clyde T. Ramsey,
Mrs. Walter Carson and Mrs. Ed
win Donnelly of Beta Sigma Phi
sorority and Mrs. M. W. Pearce,
Red Cross chairman.

Plans Final Meeting

last meeting of the year Friday,
May 2, at 8 p.m. at the school

New officers will be installed.
These officers are president, Mrs.
Charley Gibson; vice-president,

er, Mrs. Carl Herriott.

plete this years' program. Plans
for the annual play day to be
held at the Ruch school May 15,

Lions and the Hobby club held
a joint meeting Thursday night
at the home of Mrs. John Jore,
North 99 Highway.
During the business session
conducted by Mrs. J. Les Graffis,
Lady Lions president, a letter
was read from Norman J. Felder,
former Camp White veteran pro
tege of the club, saying he is now
in Barnes General hospital in
Vancouver, Wash., and has un
dergone another operation on
his leg. Mrs. Graffis asked all
club members to send letters and
get-well cards to him.
Mrs. Ruby Cary, Grants Pass,
demonstrated rug-making as the
entertainment feature of the eve
ning. The hostess served refresh
ments. Next meeting of the Lady
Lions was scheduled for Thurs
day, May 8, at 8 p.m. at the
Dardanelle Dinner house on the
Old Stage road. It will be a non
dinner meeting, with refresh
ments. The Hobby club will meet Fri
day, May 2, at 8 p.m., at the
home of Mrs. Charles Hansen,
North 99 highway.

Phoenix Parent-Teacher associa
tion for the school year will be
held Thursday, May 1, at 2:30
p.m. in the high school gymna
sium. Mrs. Fred Shepard will report
on the state convention recently
held in Pendleton, girls in the
high school home economics
classes will stage a style show,
modeling clothing ' made this
year, and 'new officers for next
year will be installed by Mrs.
Andrew. Stevens, first president
of the association.
Refreshments will be furnish
ed by mothers of high school
students and served by girls in
the home economics department
of the school.
A nursery for small children
will be provided under the di
rection of Mrs. Jarman in room
6 of the high school.

of Southern Oregon held Sunday
In Klamath Falls. Mrs. Hunte
mann, president of the confer
ence, is a member of St. Peter's
Lutheran church here.
The conference adopted as Its
new project the setting up of a
scholarship fund for young men
studying for the ministry.
